[SC] Hellstorm Launcher DPS

  1. Hello players, I have realized something interesting about the Hellstorm launchers,

    The HST-1 is better during long lasting and continuous combat, while the HST-2 is better for short and disruptive conflicts.

    The HST-1 launcher has a higher DPS than the HST-2; it reloads and fires quicker. Of course the HST-2 does slightly more damage during the beginning of a fight--but in real, long-lasting and continuous fights lasting 20 seconds or more, the higher DPS HST-1 would be better the better option between the two. In shorter combat when the fight lasts less than 20 seconds or is disruptive, the HST-2 is superior.

    THEREFORE--No need to spend over 100,000 U. upgrading the HST-2, when you can upgrade the HST-1 with mere credits--you're welcome! The HST-1 is better all around for destroying strong NPCs, and in long fights with players that are not flying in and out of range. Upgrading the HST-2 is not useful at all, because if your fights are already going to last under 20 seconds, then you can already kill your target easily anyway; this upgrade wouldn't give any needed advantage.​

    The Calculations

    In a fight with HST-1 (player x) vs HST-2 (player y) . . .

    The Battle: Both players x and y engage each other at the same time, player x will reload the HST-1 and fire off 3 additional rockets for a total of 6 rockets expended so far, before player y has the chance to fully reload his HST-2 and launch his second round of 5 rockets, for a total of 10 rockets expended so far. If the battle goes on long enough, there will be an equilibrium point between the two players where the overall damage output of their hellstorm launchers becomes equal, usually around 20 seconds, and afterward the HST-1 will be better because it is shooting faster overall than the HST-2. The point where the HST-1 becomes completely superior is a little after 20 seconds of a continuous fight.

    So if we suppose we have 3/5 sec reload and the next second so 4/6 we shoot this is the evaluation.

    But if we have 3/5 sec reload and we shot in sec 3/5 we have this one.

    Anyway the rocket launcher 2 is better making more dmg. (shoots more rockets)

    Do you have some numbers about that? It sounds like a contradiction according to this thread.

    Doesn't both rocket launcher have a cool down of 3 seconds? Each rocket needs 1 second for reloading. So the HST-1 shoots 0,5 rockets per second and the HST-2 0,625 rockets per second.
