I'm in the same boat. I'm hoping that in the next couple days they figure something out. I plan to wait a week and if BigPoint sticks with this "do nothing" option, then this fool will leave the game and go find a better one.

I'll look, and while I may not be able to share the game's name here in the forums (once I find one), I will find a way to bring as many talented players with me to a new environment.

ROFL! No. I simply love the game and it makes me incredibly sad to see this happening to a game I love so much. The game has lost most of it's challenge a while ago, but I stick around for the people. I enjoy spending time with my fellow players, helping them, mentoring them. I love the forums because I can help even more people here. But not even that sense of community is enough for me to overlook something of this magnitude.

Well, it is 3 am in Berlin so I'm hoping that the next 6 hours or so brings some revelation to someone in power to do something. While I love the things I got during the event, I am more than willing to roll them all back to undo the WAY TOO POWERFUL advantage those who broke TOS to take advantage of a clearly obvious bug.

I am guessing that the few who really earned something impressive during the time between the start and the patch would be able to contact support. Support could then determine if those few who reach out are reaching out with valid concerns. This way, those who were able to craft something magnificent and weren't playing the event could keep what they had (as an example).

Realistically, while I appreciate the increase in GoP (which was what I'm working on), I can do it again if it means that some skank player doesn't get what they exploited.

Preferably, as Trakilai pointed out, it would be MUCH better to permanently ban these idiots. They just hose the game over for those of us who are in it for the game and not the expoits.

It would be much better to remember the 5 Year Anniversary as one where a bug was exploited, users were punished significantly, and the event was expanded so those who were honest get to enjoy it for the entire length of time it was supposed to be in effect.

    My $0.02....

At least on the German forums, the mods have tolerated a lot more than usual, in the current turmoil...
Even though I do not actually plan to start another addiction :p, I would love to hear where you're heading, IF .

My plan is simple. I'll make a DrHorrible (my in game toon name) on each server, use the forums to coordinate times to link up with the people I feel like sharing with, and then have a whispered conversation that ends with the two of us logging out and meeting on the other side.

Or maybe I'll change my avatar to my new game's logo. The last time I changed it got some attention. :p

I too would vote for that option. According to the announcement, BP is rightfully afraid that legit players could be punished alongside cheaters if a ban wave took place. Some cheaters might even escape the wave while legit players get punished. It is a mistake that can happen (and server-wide scripts were repeatedly proven to cause trouble). However, the idea that many people maxed out their characters over a few days and surpassed legit players that have been playing, and paying, for years just doesn't sit well with me.

Therefore I believe that a 7-day revert (or for however long this has been going on) would be the best option. I do not really mind losing 7 days of progress, even though I performed some very tedious tasks to get the last achievement title, over than playing in a server where 30-40% of the players have everything maxed out, outpacing me that I've been playing for 5 years over a single week. BP could just give all players a nice compensation for that lost week and everything would again be (somewhat) fair. I even consider the compensation optional, I still vote for a revert without anything given to the players.

The only practical issue with the revert would be to refund or reprocess the real-world money payments that players performed during the revert period, which should not be difficult. A simple script could just add the same amount of andermants or items into our inventories again and we could just purchase the items we wanted once again, no harm done. I do not find that difficult to devise at all. Worst case scenario, some payments will not be refunded/reprocessed, players contact the payments department directly and they perform the process manually.

Finally, I really do believe that some cheaters report mechanism needs to take place. I know that it will be a very difficult task because every sore loser will be trying to get advantage of it for any given reason - there have been over a dozen people threatening me with videos and reports during the past few days just because I was kicking their arses in the arena - but *somehow* cheaters need to be getting caught. Even if 1 out of the 100 gets caught and punished, the rest will be afraid in the future.
And this brings me to another idea. OK, BP decided not to do anything server-wide to avoid problems. Let's not do anything - no revert, no server-wide punishment, nothing at all. What about player videos that clearly show other players doing the bug/cheat in real time? I must have seen two dozen of those videos in the social media and youtube during the past couple of days and I am pretty sure that they were sent to each local support group too. And I'm not talking about pictures, which can be easily fabricated, but videos. Just punish those that were caught in the act, with videos showing them doing the exploit, even if it is just 40-50 people out of the 5.000. At least it will make people think twice about it next time.

Edit: If a revert were to take place, it has to happen sometime this week, if not today. The problem has been known for days, players should not be losing our time over a company's indecision. I already lost the best part of my vacations and still I am alright with that if the revert takes place today or soon, but let's not revert a whole month back.

Dear DSO team! I suggest you reconsider your decision about doing nothing with this situation.
I am not here to say ohh, it is SOOO unfair!
I will tell you why would i choose (if i were you) to set it to a previous state of the game(even if it is a 2 week or a month ago)

Right now ppl who cheated are happy with all the gems they could possibly buy from the gem vendor for millions of andermanth. The think they could get away with it, because you are not good enough to catch them, and not going to punish everyone with a reroll.

The ppl who are free players think-oh, not only payer gamers own us, (there is a pretty high gab between us), now cheaters too! It was my chance to have all the gems(which is a huge difference, think about the attack speed gems), but i choose to be fair. And what do i get-nothing, the dso team didn't even take away their gems! I don' care if i will lose even a month progress. It will mean for example in andermant: i will lose the 30000 or even 200000 andermant i collected, but hey- ppl wont go on a lot of millions of gem rampage, owning me, no matter what!

The ppl who are paying players think-oh, so i worked hard for this game, not only with my playing time, but at the company i work at, and i spare money for this game, than ppl can get pretty much the same for free. Did i work for nothing?

Yes, ppl will complain if you decide to do a reroll, saying it is unfair to fair players, but your current decision is way more unfair. Think about it like this for the non cheaters: you were improving 10 % this time, that's what you will lose with a reroll. Cheaters will lose their 400000%, because i think noone can have full best gems without paying money, not even in 5 years.
For example i have no motivation to play much, ppl are going to own me anyway, because they decided to cheat.

I know this is LOL-WHAT-A-NOOB level, but I cannot find the forum's private messaging function...

Count me in, especially if the other game does not require a huge investment in terms of time. My biggest problem is that my time is rather limited, so I am at a huge disadvantage in games designed with constant grinding in mind.

There isn't or I would use that. It will be more like a farewell post and a list of times that I plan to get on the various servers to "say my goodbyes on a more personal level" to all the people I've spent time with on the forums.

I don't even know what those are but if it's huge power, then there is no point doing pvp in the game and the developers should at least remove it as a daily. Let the glitchers have their reward, all to themselves, please don't make me have to play directly with any of them, it would be mean and I didn't do anything wrong.
