I have wanted to start playing Drakensang for a while now, but I have two important questions.
I've heard about something called XP Block in order to farm more at lower levels, is it really possible? And if yes, then how?
The second important question would be, what can you do in this game on your own? Without spending any irl money, is there any chance to build a strong account? If yes, how much longer would it take than for someone who spends irl money in the game? And if not, then what in this game can not be farmed, but only bought with real money?
Thanks in advance for your help fellow drakensang players.

Hello Nihilius513 and welcome to DSO EN Forums! I shall let other members explain about the so-called ex-XP Block lol :) As to your second important question: you can build " a strong account" on your own and as far as time difference is concerned- it all depends on how much time you can spend each and every day playing DSO. Money can buy you few items and help sometimes but there are players who haven't spent a dime in this game and can proudly show really decent toons for that. I will now let others explain more about these matters if they wish so:)

    Enjoy the Forum!
    kind regards,

    I guess I'll explain.

A long time ago (a couple months ago) PvP used the stats based on the enchantments on the gear of a character. Thus, if a character had really good gear and lots of glyphs to level it up, the player could get significantly stronger. Now lets back up even further (July 17). Before then, a low level player would play with a high level player and not get any experience, but they would get items of their own level. There were whole guilds dedicated to that. They would play with higher level players during events/in the Parallel Worlds and get really nice items and tons of glyphs while still being low level. Then, this LVL 10-15 player would be stronger than most LVL 45+ characters. They would then PvP against low level players who were new to the game and absolutely annihilate them, making low level PVP more about how strong the player's friends were than how skilled the were. These cancerous players were known by the derogatory title of "twinks" and were generally well despised by players such as myself who saw them as leaches who then prayed on the new and weak players of the game.

Fortunately, XP blocking was removed in R194 and hasn't returned. While there are still a few OP low level players, they are not nearly as common as they were. There are still a few changes that would make low level PvP more balanced, but it is nowhere nearly as bad as it was in the years gone by.

Exp Block? what's all the hate about it :'D, You play a game and expect to win pvp with green and blue items + no experience to dso pvp? C'mon that's pretty stupid... This game is about building your character and getting stronger, not complaining that you cant pvp because there are players wayyyyy stronger than you, Some of these stronger players spent years building their chars while all their work now is practically broken because some max lvl players (who aren't even involved with low lvl) complain , and new players who spent like 4 days on their char are complaining :'D. When I first played this game I got smacked around in pvp, I didn't complain that they were stronger.. I just searched for methods on how to build my char and then I learned about xp block ;) Spent 4/5 years doing so on many different chars and it was the most fun experience I ever had and many other players can probably say the same. XP block didn't need to be touched, PvP should've been made more fair so then nobody can complain about the "twinks".

Since I start to play this game at March 2012 (I'm a old beta tester). I have seen a lot of change sometimes worse or better (hard to say). But BP have implanted the PVP, the problems have started:
They removed the shield (''friendly blessing of armor'' - increase armor by 50% for 5 minutes) + ''friendly blessing of damage'' (increase damage by 50% for 5 minutes) + two others (which I forgot). Plus change I hate it (+ some I like it (That's why I still play lol). I made the decision never to play PVP! And after reading all that relates to the famous PVP, I don't regret my decision on the contrary lol

PvP was hella good back in the days, Now it's so pointles.. How the heck can someone with green items destroy someone who worked hard for a set? dont make sense. The community really messed up this game by complaining =D

That may be true - we all know those wise words: " be careful what you wish for". However , one must remember that the so-called "destruction of PvP" had more than one father... let's not forget that a lot of good suggestions and well thought through feedback related to PvP has been posted numerous times in the Forums but it seems that it falls on deaf ears... so Devs - please listen to the feedback!:) but I digress.
