Demon Champion. Castle Ravenclaw - Difficult

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone had any really good tips or tricks for defeating the Fiery Demon Champion in difficult mode.

I am a ranger and I find that there is nowhere really safe to try and hit this guy. It is impossible to out run the fireballs he hurls and when the red stuff and lasers combine ... well I am sure I don't need to go further here....

I like a challenge, but I am finding I die more than anything while attempting this guy. I hate letting the group down.

Here's the thing. If you are not a SW or a SM, the demon is tough. I have a DK with 74.5% damage reduction from my armor and 9.6k hp and I got one shot by his Destruction beam (non blocked crit). The solution... I don't fight the demon anymore.

 

He's a replica of a mage so, it's about resistance... Anyway, i'm skipping him to, too many blue wasted on him (and anders for revive ).

 

I am a ranger and i have roughly 71 percent in physical and 65 percent in fire damage reduction. I need pots to tank him of course. I also get one shotted as well by his destruction (non blocked crit). The trick is to mark and precision and side step the fireball then use deadly blow while his animation still continues. Then you just repeat and try not to get hit. You need about 25-30 percent move speed to pull it off. I have killed him without dying, usually using about 8-10 potions.

 

If he is an exact replica of a SW, then destruction does physical damage, which is why I quoted my armor stat... If I were talking about his fireballs, I'd have mentioned my 1390 resistance (42.00%).

When I enter the map ... every single monster is committing a suicide.
I am just riding and picking the drops.

I know it is doable ... but i didn't collect 200K Blue essences before the event so I can spare them. Events are short and the runs should be fast.
BTW ... I have killed it only once ... very easy with blue essences ... but there is no point killing a monster that can drop nothing that I want. It is just a waste of time.
I was killing Dragan(difficult) with 300 red essences in 4-5 minutes ... then i went on blue essences ... and took me twice that amount and time. all kills were flawless ... meaning without taking a damage. When i get the last part for the mount ... I will have to challenge him with green and no essences. But ... after the goal is complete.

Yea, the demon is a waste of time. I usually do Heredur or Sargon.

 

Yeah, me and Divinius tried him one time......just once. I could get near him for only a few hits than death bestows me. It was only after getting 4-5 hits in and 2-3 deaths that I told him........NEXT MONSTER

 

Rangers tactic to kill Demon:

1. Push him against the wall to the right side and near his statue.

2. Go about 1/3 of the way up on the stairs. Demon will reposition himself to shoot at you while hitting the corner of the stairs with his fireball, and the Destruction beam will go below you.

3. Next is the only tricky part: put your mouse pointer BEHIND him and on his right side so that he is not highlighted as a target. You'll have to use the shift key to stand still or have your shots on Mouse button 2. Move the mouse so that your arrows go through his targeting circle, but you don't have him highlighted. Your arrows will hit him while his shots bounce off the walls.

This is similar to the stair boundaries that blocks ranged shots except in the horizontal instead of vertical.

Then there are the tactics for DKs...

1. Attack with all you have.
2. Die.
3. Attack with all you have.
4. Die.
.
.
.
X. Attack with all you have.
X+1. Collect crappy drops.

This is why DKs are jealous of ranged characters and wish the developers could put in a little bit of AI into their ranged characters.

 

To be honest, these bad design bosses in DSO are wasting time and money for my level 45 DK (85xx HP and 41xx armor). There's almost no chance to fight Demon Champion. Why does not DSO set event boss in a narrow cage for all classes no way to run? That would make more money.

I try to learn other DK's fighting skill. It's hard to find DK and ranged bosses fighting films on YouTube.

 

My DK's do not have much of a problem with him. Push him into the nook next to his statue, out of reach of the laser. Addicted talent keeps my rage up along with battle cry I just smash away. (I avoid rage jump since he will use the opportunity to move out of my trap a step or two.) Watch for his lead up to destruction, step aside a bit then push him back. Also he will eventually squeeze out of the trap and you will not herd him back. Solo this will take a few universal pots but since I rarely use the I have more than 1 full stack. I will admit that both the DK's I am using have pretty high resists.

Small team works better when I to take him down quicker. One or two ranged attackers (I prefer SW or RA) standing on the stairs. Even if they have high agro he can't get away from you to go after them. Of course this means your mates need to be savy enough not to hit him hard when you step aside or he squeezes out.

In the end though I have stopped doing him, also the headless knight. After a many kills of each neither has dropped anything worth writing home about. I have got the headless knight costume twice. That is an old recycled costume though and I already have it.

Basically unless you are bored to the point of tempting death forget about him. In hard Ravenclaw I just go after the hard Dragan pearls and Dragan jr (who really does not exist, at least I have never seen him )

I have found Dragan Jr now 4 times. He has always been in the same spot, on the NorhtWest side in the room spaced evenly between Demon and Headless opposite side of the oval from the laser room. (sorry, sounds like my wifes directions)

My problem is, he hits like a truck, has a ton of HP and is a fast little bugger. I've killed him all 4 times using red and kiting him around the oval. Result; white green and blue, no pet piece.

Let me see, a rare spawn, with a random drop. Not many people will get that pet.

 

The new DSO trailer starts off with "GET THE LOOT." Maybe they are starving us to build up an appetite for the new gear next year.
