It really seems like a true determination needs to be explained on what pushing is...

A few weeks ago, a thread was brought up and the mods posted the rules, but it gave the impression that helping someone lower than 6 levels was fine as long as that character wasn't one of your own:

    https://board-en.drakensang.com/threads/define-pushing.53991/#post-599379

However, there is now a thread (closed by the same mod) where a person asked for help from someone above the 6 levels specifically so they wouldn't gain xp points.

    https://board-en.drakensang.com/thr...ayer-to-group-with-while-looting-beats.54636/

The explanation given in the closed thread would lead to the conclusion that asking for help from a higher level player is against the rules...

These two threads seem to contradict each other .... or maybe I am simply misunderstanding something (which could easily be the case).

Yeah, I saw the same thing. I thought pushing was using two of your own characters, not grouping with high level characters.

  3. A good question.

According to the Terms and Conditions of Use, "pushing" is where one player controls 2+ a/cs and uses them to interact with each other in such a way as to give a benefit to 1+ a/c. e.g. duel logging. This is prohibited.

The confusion is in regards to players who group with other players 6+ levels above them to avoid exp gains. This is not specifically prohibited in the current version of the T&Cs of Use. Nor is it prohibited for a player to "farm" an area 6+ levels below their exp. level in order to gain loot without gaining experience.

I have asked BP to give a definitive ruling regarding what is considered "pushing".

No Need I got your back.

Pushing-use of exert force on (someone or something), typically with one's hand, in order to move them away from oneself or the origin of the force; move forward by using force to pass people or cause them to move aside.

  6. Thanks for that most excellent definition, Yeo. I presume we can consider this matter resolved to the satisfaction of all now?

Hmmm.... we should probably wait and see what BP have to say, I guess - just in case their definition of "pushing" is slightly different.

much thx, because we all either have helped a lower lvl or have gotten help from a higher player for a quest ect.
they would of changed the levels in grouping to + or - a few lvl's of your own if this was a problem.
i seen the post and answer givin as well, and i thought,Huh?
alls good now thanks to u,,,now lets go Kill Stuff!! :D

I'm certainly interested in BP's definition.

I did not twink my character (although I have since learned the benefits of doing so) and have not actively gapped for players either, but I have been helped and I have helped players who were both above and below me.

It is completely obvious why helping your own account is and should be against the rules, but now (see closed thread) there is a big grey area on helping others or at least asking for that kind of help.

There are certainly maps and quests that are difficult to do and having someone stronger is certainly a benefit.

I also understand why twinking can have a major impact on pvp and looking through the many threads on the imbalance it obviously has.

I would suggest that if BP is going to make gapping against the rules, they should change the program so it's not possible to group with higher players. That solves the problem completely.

    @Rhysingstar
The player was not asking for help to kill a specific boss or monsters, he/she was asking for XP blocker specifically.
As long as I am concerned it is against the rules.

Why? How is this different from asking for help to kill a powerful boss? (Just trying to understand.)

Her original request made no sense anyway. She didn't want to gain xp because if she gained a level she would have to go to the next map.

    ????huh?????

At any rate, I understand Mal's objection and personally HATE the premise of xp blocking. But, that is not the question. Our personal opinions are not the question and simply do not matter.

The question to answer is: does it violate the TOS. If it does Mal's reaction is appropriate and fair. If it does not violate the TOS, then Mal's(and my) personal opinion of it does not matter and closing her thread was an inappropriate use of power.

It is called "moderator's discretion". Just like in the sports, the referee have a right of discretion to call for a foul or don't.

  13. And this particular moderator is closing this thread pending a clear and formal reply from BP. {thinking....} Yeah... probably safe to archive this one...
