i would like to have the pink dress i see some woman wearing, but this is no longer available. I find this torture to see players in this beautiful dress and i can not get it
Also i would like to have some costumes different from male chars, have a male and female edition of costumes, hats, jerkins, gloves and boots also i want to have earrings.
I find it hard sometimes to see if the char is male or female pls make this more obvious. Lots of players call me buddy dude guy etc in the chat so i am not the only one who has trouble to see the difference. i want to be called babe princess darling etc
Also i dont think its fair that the female steam mechanic has cup size DD and female rangers cup size CC.
So please make the pink dress available again and give my char a breast enlargment

How about you change your name to 'Iamawwoman' or 'female' or 'callmebabe' if it s that important to you to be recognised as a woman?

yes that is a good idea to change my name to callmebabe only it cost real money to change your name in the game otherwise i would. When i made this char i didnt know that at the time And you would be nicer if you were a little less condescending

I am hoping that my response to OP does not come off as snarky...First, I do understand the desire to acquire event costumes. Other than that, as a female player I am having trouble wrapping my head around the rest of the post.

In any MMO, you can never assume that the player behind the character is the same sex as the character. I currently have 4 characters, 3 female and one male. Names of characters may give others an indication of the player's personality but seeing one named "Female" is not going to make me believe that the person behind that name actually is female. If it is important to you for others to know that you are a female, you are going to have to clarify that via chat. Even then, you may not break the habit of other players of using terms associated with males when addressing you. This is something that I have come to understand when playing MMO's. Often, I don't even bother correcting someone as it is needless to do so if I am grouping with someone for a short period of time to kill a boss or get a few quests done. Generally, this is a non-issue for me and it is only after knowing someone for awhile in game that it really ever comes up.

Character customization is a topic that I have seen come up in previous posts. For me, about the only time that I really see what my character looks like is when choosing which to play or when I am in my inventory. I have no complaints about that. Further customization of my characters would do little to enhance my gameplay. As far as how other characters look in game, I notice the rarity level of the gear when they are not in costume and that is about it.

Lastly, one of things that I liked when I began playing DSO was that the gear for the male and female characters looked more or less the same on both. It is actually depicted as armor and not metal bikinis or lingerie. I really don't need to pop into town and see a slew of mostly naked characters standing around for me to enjoy the game. :)

Once, a member of the group I was in asked me to take my helmet off so they could see my hair. If you don't really need the armor/enchantments associated with whatever you wear on your toon's head, and if your toon had long hair to begin with, taking it off might fix the problem of others not being able to tell gender based on name.

Personally I don't care what gender the character is, nor the person behind it. I never assume them to be the same. Saves me all kinds of embarrassment.

I get called sis and dear all the time because of my toons name, but just from those that don't know I'm a 6'3" 260lb 47 year old DUDE. It's really funny when they try to flirt and then figure the gender thing out:eek:

It was meant as a joke, but i guess i failed there. Hereby my apolagies :)

I'm the kind of player that really couldnt care less what my character looks like. Would it be a 500 lbs guy, a witch or just a black blur...
I understand it can be annoying to be adressed as a male all the time, but that s what we have guilds for. When you play a lot with some people you can clarify who you are and how they can address you. people you play randomly with, well, you may never meet them again, so why bother?

Btw, looking like a woman doesnt mean someone is. I ve seen many male characters running around in queen antonia's old dress or even more horrifyingly in the witch costume. And enough guys who use a female character, just for fun, or some hoping others would go easy on them in pvp 'cause they re female.

One serious solution could be to start playing with a female DK. It s the only archtype where i can easily see the difference, since the male DKs have the biggest/broadest posture of all characters, while the female DKs are really small (in width).

Ugh guys in witch costume. Has to be one of the most horrifying sights in game.

More than that, maybe DSO could give us a chance to change the ethnicity or hairstyles of characters that existed before the Release that brought many options on the customization screen.

I know what you mean. On my Heredur character, I have the Miss-Tronsity outfit at last so finally people stop calling me "bro" (I know it's a cultural thing for even women to be called that sometimes, but it still peeves me off) but even though I'm wearing the chameleon suit and it's obvious there is a femininely shaped torso, gamers in Tegan server... even those who pair up with me enough times still call me "bro"

I had PUG gamers apologizing to me because they thought at first I was being a cocky dude but as soon as they realize I am a female player they felt really bad for speaking to me harshly and gave mad props in knowing proper strategy killing a certain boss, etc. Personally, I'd be pretty insulted if people called me princess, babe, darling... especially when it's a gamer I don't know well. Even with fellow guildies and players I paired up frequently for quick farming, they don't address me in that manner. I allow only one person to call me "preciosa" because said gamer knows me locally and is essentially a bodyguard to me. I don't go calling random gamers gender-specific honorifics unless I know them well enough plus they want me to specifically address them in that manner.

But I understand what you meant; I would like to earn Queen Antonia's gown... especially if it allows my character to show her beautiful black hair.
Try this. I have a screen name that belongs to an obviously feminine anime character, in person I'm a 5'4" 135lb age 35 female; I still get called dude, bro, man, and been talked to if I was NPH's Barney Stinson asking for wingman advice!

That's just because over half of the 'female' characters in game are in reality male gamers. And most use 'bro' as it is the most inoffensive form of address. I wouldn't call someone bro or anything tho. I don't know them to attach anything to them other than a shortened form of their names.
But yeah, Tegan people overfamiliarize a lot.
That aside, Sailor Saturn FTW! the anime that introduced us to short skirts in anime and the 'absolute territory' xd

I know that most 'female' characters are actually male. My brother is one of the top PvPer in a popular MMO and the beauty of his character puts all my gaming girls in the MMOs I play to shame. That and my spouse plays a character in the same MMO and is a well known derailer... I have many angry male gamers cursing my older daughter's full name because that's the screen name he labeled his character! How rude!

Yes, I like Sailor Saturn very much. Sadly I could not get the fukuu in time for a convention next week so I'm dressing up as Kuroha Neko instead. Close enough, I suppose?

    Gender issues get complicated.
Role-playing games are a great place to try out fantasies and explore other identities. Sexuality is not as simple as it was years ago, and people change minds and bodies at different rates. It's not surprising, that a lot of unconventional stuff goes on in a world devoted to conflict and entertainment.
In the US there is a rainbow coalition of gay, lesbian, trans-sexual, and bi-gender people, but laws and customs vary by location. We live in interesting times, and BigPoint has a lot of people to please!
