My husband and I play together. Every time we level we get a new string of quests, but they stop not even half way through our next level. We then half to go out and just XP for hours and hours to get new quests once we level. Why dont they have a continuous string of quests? Why do they just stop until you level? This is very frustrating.

I think the focus of quests are to help you explore the game. The focus could be at low levels to level you up but there comes a time when you need to start to focus on getting your gear upgraded and such.

The two do not have to be mutually exclusive... To date, they have shown no desire whatsoever to reduce the grinding... Granted to do so would mean listening to players and taking some time to put thought into it, but it's easier to get new players than to keep players....

Well games in this cliche have grind. So I don't know where that thought mentality comes. I guess I fail to see what an alternative is. Quests in games general are for two things. 1.) Story line; to relay a background of where we came from and what are we doing. 2.) Side questing; to occupy your time and to give you a goal to reach while your doing something else.

Any game can just keep adding quests so that all you do is quest till your end game but then what happens then? I think the way they do it is really awesome. When you start the quests tell you why your hear mostly then they give you side quests and later they wean your off of quests and you grind.

How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a a time. Leveling in the game is monumental to get to 45 so they give you those quests so the goal is easier to reach and providing all the benefits listed above one bite at a time.

You will learn to set your own goals/quests. You will always want more gems/GOP/ander etc and will grind your face off to get it without some NPC telling you to do it. Then you will PVP with no benefit at all other than the entertainment and skills you can get climbing the ladder.

Enjoy the game for it's own sake and everything else comes with a little time.

It's all go advice. I am curious at which level they got hung up. There are some natural points along the way to 45 that quest exhaustion seems to happen. We might be able to advise them better if they said at which level they are having some problems grinding. As an example, level 25 commonly exhausts. Then there is the usual route of leveling on Sig before heading to Gorga and back filling those quests once a tad stronger. If they are stuck in the 40-43 range, then the strategy is even a bit different there. I would ask them to make sure they have fitted the XP gem and also to reconsider grinding maps as a group. They can PVE open wilderness maps the same area if it gets tricky but if they are grouped, they are sharing mob xp gain and that is always bad and inefficient. If they are on a private map, then they really need to think about the mini bosses and cycling those properly. And, as many have suggested, you'll want to work on mob groups +1 of your level. Finally, there are some quest lines and maps that are an absolute waste of time and can be bypassed without a xp growth penalty. You need to be really discerning about the quests. Not all quests are worth your while and it is sometimes better to leap frog them and potentially come back at a later date. Be picky. Try to solo when possible. Grind the level appropriate bosses. If they are truly he77 bent on grouping the entire experience, they should fork out a few bucks and buy the XP pets and a few extra rubies. It will make the whole experience more relaxing and fun. If they can't find the nickles in the sofa cushions, then they need to farm and grind.

This game has 2 basic elements:

PVP which is to reach the highest possible level.

Simple enough, fight over and over and over until one day you reach the top...

PVE which is to reach the highest possible level.

With pve, you can find enough quests to hit the mid 30's without much of a grind. Takes about a week of casual play. Granted the point is to build up your gear, but since we all know that crafting has been for intents and purposes removed, we are reliant on drops. Despite the claim that they have been increased, we all know that getting really good gear given in a drop is slim and none.

Without quests, the only options left is to grind the same map(s) over and over and over for the miniscule exp points or purchase the exp points. Now it doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out what most will do.

Then after getting close to the end, we are left with quests that take weeks/months to complete, again complete with grinding the same map over and over and over until you basically want to quit the game.

And what do we get for all this grinding ???? Gear that isn't worth the effort nor the time it take to complete.

I fully understand and agree with the logic of needing/wanting to make money, but their way is to make the grind so mind numbing that you buy your way out of it. Then stop dropping good gems, so we have to buy gems. Then create new mounts that can only be bought. I'll give credit for the jesters, that was pure brilliance for adding a new twist on getting people to spend their money.

However, at some point all you need is good gear, and since they don't sell it, don't allow it drop, don't offer it in events, and don't offer it through quests, what are we to spend our money on ??????? Personally I would love to be able to spend my money on something in this game, but they have proven to me that they don't want my money.

Since I am only left to grind for the Ammon helmet (which I could not use if I had a hundred of them) I have basically resigned myself to rarely logging on and playing even less.

Having the ability to set a goal is great, but once you've lost the belief that you'll get any type of reward for the time and effort ....... it's off to the next game.

For me, hitting lvl 42 was the hardest. I think I quit the game and came back 3 times before I finally sat down one night with a couple scrolls, a stack of blue and paid gorga a visit.

Surprisingly, 43 only took me 4 days, after I found that I should've started on the dwarf area a long time ago.

But now I'm stuck once more, with another 7 bars left until I can start on Stalgard. I'm just counting the days until the next moon event and occasionally wasting my time attempting to finish Ammon's quests...

Farm gorga all the way to lvl 45. At some point you should be able to solo gorga normal and get there pretty fast. It may get boring but in 1 or 2 weeks you should be lvl 45.

No, you have to stop at lvl 44. At that point you will only receive 30% exp. I'm lvl 43 and now I'm only getting 2.5k compared to 4.5k before.

Wait until you hit the current level cap at 45. I have to deal with my gaming partner-in-crime complaining that there's nothing else to do other than to grind M2 or do PW quests (heavy grinds in map non-stop to get the low quest item drops). At that point, you'll wish you'll have a few more levels or so to work up to... or least I bet that's what he's thinking.

I can think of many other MMO games that have much worse of a grind before leveling.

Oh my, oh my. So many pretty words and analogies here. To sum it up a bit for you, it is called grinding. Lack of content, interest or thought from the devs (gotta stop calling them devs, because they aren't developing anything) brings about the DSO grindfest apocalypse.

That, and they hope you're stupid enough to stick to the game and fill their pockets. I am one of the stupid. :) Not proud, but stupid.
