More and more, methinks this game is not so wonderful.

While I would love to see some basic changes, I think that this game is a blast for the first 40 levels. It's easy to play, the quests are fun to complete, and it moves at a decent pace.

Recently I've been creating a new character, run it up to lvl 40 in about 2 weeks of casual play, delete the character and start all over again. It doesn't require a whole lot of mindless grinding and gives me a chance to enjoy the game a little bit..

I'm still hoping that one day they will implement some basic changes to make it fun for my main character again...

I just did that with a character I ended up not liking to play (wrong class for me). I sold everything I had and ran off in my skivies to gamble at the jesters. That in itself was kind of fun!

But as for the topic of the post, it seems to me that Premium accounts have lost a little of what made them special. I'm hoping that this isn't a trend and that something comes along that makes having a Premium account more worthwhile.

    1. The graphics and sound effects are exceptional, and I like the freer structure of the game as opposed to the others I've played.

    2. Not sure what you mean by "casual play" and not a "whole lot" of grinding. As for the latter, I don't mind grinding, per se, but good drops do seem very infrequent.

The graphics are among the best and there are certain aspects of this game that are incredible. That is one of the things that brought me to this game in the beginning. Sure it copies the basic mmorpg themes, but it did them better in many ways.

The issue (for me) is once you get around level 40 there is really nothing left to do but grind with very little reward for the effort. There are some quests that take weeks of heavy play to finish and the rewards for those quests are seriously not worth the effort.

The last half dozen or so updates have influenced the grind even more and not for the better. This has also worked its way into some of the events (like Dragan) that really turned them into a major grind.

I have suggested many times that a few basic changes could make the grind so much more tolerable... Reasonable increase in drops, gems, lock picks, new gear and such that would encourage players to play, yet instead they have reduced enchantments, basically removed crafting and other things to make the grind even worse.

I have basically retired my lvl 45 spellweaver simply because I have nothing to look forward to in playing that character. It's not that I don't want a better character, it boils down to the fact that after almost a year of playing the game (9 months of that was really heavy play) and I have yet to get 1 really great piece of gear that I could brag about...

Sure I can solo any map except the big bosses (Destructor, Mortis, Kahlys) and can solo every event, but there is no fun to doing it when their is no reward for the time and effort. I don't want great gear or uniques to fall from every mob, but when you waste the time to clear a map for nothing but white and green gear with the occasional blue thrown in, the time is not worth it. When you spend a month working through 1 quest and get rewarded with nothing more than a piece of gear that isn't worth the time to melt it, that takes the fun out of it.

After you get to a decent character you have no reason whatsoever to go to Gnob, so why bother hoarding draken...

I used to be a premium player and spent money on gems regularly, but because of the mind numbing grind, I stopped spending a dime on the game, there simply isn't a point to it (for me). I used to play 4 or more hours every single day when I thought that there was a chance to build a really good character, but the fun was taken out of it for me when the updates started focusing on adding as much grinding as possible.

    So.........

With a new character, I can get up to level 40 in about 17 days (takes about 20 hours) playing about an hour or so most days. I still get to have the fun of playing this game without worrying about finding the great gear or gems or anything else. Then I delete the character and begin again. The pve maps are so easy up to Atlantis above water that you really don't have to worry about dying or great gear.

I keep hoping that DSO will listen to their players, but I know better.. so I simply play less and less waiting for the next game to come along..

another great advantage with premium is you can change your daily quest to the one you want, which ofcourse is awesome for beginners who are still collecting knowlegde just saying and getting the thread back on topic

I think buying an equivalent amount of andermant is more useful than buying premium. If you are spending money, rather than dropping $12.50 a month on premium, drop $50 every 4 months on ander (ideally during a 25% bonus ander sale), and get gems (ideally during a 25% off gem price sale). BP will get the same amount of revenue and your character will be stronger.
