I may just have had bad luck, but I have gotten 1 lockpick out of opening something close to 40 shabby chests. This is fairly new - i used to get lockpicks all the time. Now I get copper and the occaisional item.

Has the drop rate for lockpicks been changed?

From my exposure, yes it is slightly lower. As mentioned in other threads, I try to farm 20 lock picks a day as part of my "routine." My drop rate has been between 5 and 6 percent since I started it; or, about 1 in 20. Some days better some worse. The rate for the last few weeks is about 3 percent or 1 in every 30ish. Again, some days a little better some a little worse. Might just be a swing in my luck which will rebound at some point. Or, a change in code. In any case, it's not a huge problem although I'd prefer 100% drop rate:D

They are practically rare for me now.

I can get them at the jesters, if I'm desperate. The price is too high for me, though. Usually lockpicks are a signal to move on. LOL

When they raised the drop rate of lock picks to 10%, they made an announcement to that effect. That was the last time I heard anything about the drop rate being changed. (I still read all official news regularly.) However, it wouldn't surprise me if they lowered the drop rate after that and didn't make an announcement. They prefer to keep the bad news they create for the players to themselves. (One of the myriad reasons that I stopped playing.)

    Have a good one!
