Every week-end there new players lvl 40+ spamming the ingame chat with site links about getting free game stuff, so i wonder if the team can even bother do something about it because its realy anoying when no one can do much about it but put them on ignore.
The ignore are a bit hard to get to if you havent played for some time to know how to do it.
So im asking if we can get 1 of 2 things:
    1. A ingame Chat mod
    2. A scroll down when clicking on player name in the chat to put them straight to the ignore list.

And pls dont tell me to contact support every time a new player does it, im not playing to act as chat support 24/7 when im in game.

Other games solved this problem by giving a restriction to posting the same massage multiple times. You cant post the same massage in 10 sec frame. If the bot starts to add letters to differ the messages DSO can add a check to the new sstring with the old one, if similliar enough (by 2-3~ letters offset), then it is treated as the same message.

A report system would fail I think becouse they create new accoutns anyway.

Just look how other games deal with it and code it. The problem is not the solution.

@pydragons the wierd part is that its not new acc they are all around the lvl 40 and above, so i realy dont get why they do it when there is a risk of getting a perma ban for the acc they use.

  4. Yes, the spammers are generally established a/cs. They are testament to all the special little bunnies we have in the game - i.e. those who see a message like "OYG!!! FREE stuff at www.phishingscam.con" being spammed in-game, and then rush to that site and enter their DSO a/c + linked email a/c details and actually expect to get freebies. And thus the cycle continues.

There are currently no in-game chat moderators. If you have a god argument favouring chat mods, please state it and we will forward your concerns/suggestion. For the moment, chat "policing" relies mostly on the players themselves - if you see a zombie character used to spam chat, press F10 to save a screenshot to your desktop, then send that to Support.

Note: if Big Point is giving out bonus codes and other freebies, it will be announced here in the forum, and then done via the forum, official Facebook page, an acknowledged partner site (check this forum first) or via an admin in-game (admins will have an orange character name and orange chat. If they don't, they are not admins). If in doubt, ask here.

Your talking about hijacks accounts. There are still players who believe that thay can get all in short time on some unofficial server.... fact is there is no unofficial server but only fake DSO site for account theft (not even a site, just a page but...).

But there is no need to throw ideas how to deal with these spammers. This issue has been solved by many games years ago.
It comes down to if it is priority to start coding this.

Giving a restriction to post messages censecutively in a short period of time, and posting the same message in a short period of time can result in a 30 seconds chat ban. This is used by many games nowadays, it's easy and simplistic.

Dont work if youre not iin the same place as them.

    --MERGED--

Its not so much a need for mods its more about making it more easy to put them on ignore.
There are plenty of ways to do it seen in other online games so cant be that hard just wondering why its not been done yet.
The right click on the chat name to get a ignore option cant be that hard to implement. ;)

What you are asking for is already in the game. Ctrl click on their name in the chat window, you get a new window like you would if you were standing next to them.

You can ignore them, but that is a short term solution because the Bott spammer is a stolen account, and the Bott spammer changes very often as people fall for the trick and give them another account to Bott spam with.
Long term solution has already been given here in this thread, f10 send to support. Community vigilance is the best way to deal with them. all guild leaders should be telling there members to report to support. If we stand together and help DSO with information then the nasty little thieves can be dealt with quickly and effectively.
There is one question that I would like to address to DSO staff, our accounts are the property of DSO, If you have not already done so why have you not gotten the police involved? I am sure it would be very easy to have there sight shut down and the little nasty toad's responsible prosecuted.

  11. @ Knightofyourlife That would be a question best asked of Greg or Rick. I suspect that it comes down to this: Big Point owns the intellectual property rights for the DSO material - story-line, graphics, concept, scripting, etc. But the individual a/c owners are responsible for their a/c security. This is why customers are told to pick secure passwords for both their DSO a/c and for their linked email a/c and to never disclose the details to anyone or to enter them into any site.

Thank you for this very reasonable response.
your answer is accepted and understood
My consern about this matter is probably inflated by a monther hen attidude towards younger members of the Community that may have a look at this sight and then give over there passwords in a moment of thoughtlessness. This should not be such a major concern as they are not stupid and should be aware of the fact that this is a trick run by thieves.

Community vigilance is the most powerfull tool.

  13. The problem is: some of the scam sites use DSO graphics taken from the game, forum, wiki or the old Fan Pack to make their site look legit. Young players and players without a sensitive built-in B*S* Meter, can easily be conned. The biggest concern is not so much regarding the a/c - they can generally be recovered. It's scammers accessing stored financial details which is the real worry.

Anyhoo... We agree: scammers spamming phishing links in the in-game chat is both annoying and of major concern. Until a more permanent system is implemented, please be sure to screenshot any spamming (press F10 in the game to save an image to your desktop), then send it to Support as an attachment and let them know which server it is on.
