Hey guys, I'm a little confused on armor enchantments.

I found what I thought was a decent legendary armor (lvl 28) which has 226 armor, with +71 armor, +79 armor, +56 armor and health points.

However, when I put it on, I only gain the 226. Why doesn't the + enchantments show any difference in the armor?

This is where things get confusing. Previously the base was stated and you added the enchantments to get the total. Now you have to subtract the enchantments to get the base number.

The base armor for that item is 20.

Thanks, it is confusing. Some of it makes sense, the + health seems to work, the + resist seems to work, but +armor doesn't add anything and +dmg is also not exactly correct all the time. In most games, a DK is geared towards armor but if the enchantments don't add up it makes choosing gear a little interesting.

I've found that if one line is white, and there are matching enchantments in blue, the blue is added to the white line for the white line's total. If all the lines are blue, then they stand alone. Not sure this is always true, (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong!) but it is for the equipment I have now.

What seems confusing is why have the + if it makes no difference to the total. So far this only seems to apply to armor, but I have not been playing long enough to see if this applies to other enchantments.

Like my robe, my boots have a base armor of 217 with enchantments of +80, +57 and +58 which add nothing to the total. Defeats the purpose of looking for armor enchantments.

So do all items with a base stat have weird calculations?

The base stats on your boots are not 217. That is what is being said above. The base stats on your boots are 217-80-57-58=22
So the base stat is 22, then you add all the enchantments to it and it displays as 217, which is what everyone is complaining about with the post R134 displays.

Another example if you have a weapon with a base damage of 10-20, and it has an enchant of +50% weapons damage, it will display the base stat as 15-30. The lack of a before and after on the displays causes the confusion you are experiencing and makes it hard to compare items.

Yes, what BigPapa said is correct.
It is quite confusing and I had the same trouble before, until I figured it out.

You do get the benefit of the +armor lines. If you haven't noticed that any gear of the same body part at a particular level has the same base armor value.

If you click on the item upgrade screen, you'll see the base stats for the item, such as the base armor. Not as good as actually seeing them on the item page but it can be checked in the game.
