Suggestion Voice chat.

Yeah, great game guys, but there should be an option for voice chat. Especially with a game that's a gig. Free game, for the most part, so I can understand why you might not want to do it, but come on. Internet voice chat has been around since I was a young teen(15+ years ago). I've done just enough DOS and Linux coding to know it's not that difficult to just slap together a voice chat feature. And they're open source, as far as I know, even on Windows.

Okay, I'm done complaining now. Awesome game. Loved the offline version back in the day, still love the online version, phenomenal job guys.

Edit: By voice chat feature, I of course don't mean all the group and world chat having voice chat activated. I mean of course for it to be just whisper chat or something, straight pipe to the other player's computer.

 

Since they partner with Razor comes my suggestion would be to look into a separate chat program.

And yes mumble is free source code for Linux apple and windows.

 

Razor Coms, Mumble, TeamSpeak, RsidCall... there are plenty of options from third party developers, but I think the biggest reason that BP won't implement it in game is the one you already mentioned... money. Bandwidth is expensive and if voice chat were implemented, they would have to shell out a good sum of money for increased bandwidth for the voice servers.

Bottom line, use a third party tool as it is unlikely that it will ever be available natively.
