Non-chatty NPCs

A new release is sitting on the TS right now which will hopefully fix the issue with players being unable to interact with NPCs. The team would like players to test this and give feedback as soon as possible. Cheers.

 

Using: Firefox/39.0 / Windows 8.1
I've checked all of the cities few times and some additional NPC's that are outside of cities (duengons, event location, open map) and it does seems to work for me everytime.

 

Good to see something is really being done. Hoping to see the fix go live ASAP.

But it was working before the patch too.

 

Works fine here, checked few NPC's and did several quests.

 

Running win vista 64. never had a problem with npc's. But seems those running win 8 did. Hope this works for all those affected.

I'm running Win7 and I've had the same mixed results everyone has been having. If you haven't had any problems, it is more likely good luck than running an old version of Windows.

 

Why would the windows version matter. From my work in php coding I truly think it has to do with environmental memory pathing due to the fact it is all of the NPC's on the map. Once you fix one that are all fixed. This happened when a change in a location happen and the symbolic path had an error.

 

Maybe BP should higher nuker.

 

Testing should have occurred BEFORE it was implemented. Thats why it's called a test. To see if it works.

 

mortis bug fixed less then 24 hour and was very effective to respond.but this bug!!!!!!!! hope not getting no drop bug.it will be fixed next year

im a lvl 6 hunter and im in the first city whenever i left click to talk to an npc it doesnt work i click them and i just run towards them nonstop pls help

 

In troubleshooting, it is called "Fault Isolation." The idea is to eliminate things that you know it isn't until you've managed to narrow it down to what it is. Given that the NPCs work sometimes and don't work others and it seems to effect everyone in an instance would lead you to assume something server side.

 

Hmmm seems the gear inspection was the problem FYI.

 

Um, the only reason why I noted what I was using at the moment was because I know few people that didn't encounter this at all or if they did it's very rare for them (let's say 1 per every 50 maps), after I checked client and other browsers that was the only thing that I thought would be different between me and them. Again, I could be wrong and the OS version didn't matter at the end.

Anyway, I hope the hotfix will be implemented this Monday because trips to Kingshill after every map aren't so great.
