    Hey everyone!

    I'm a fairly new player and I have a couple of questions I'd like to ask to the community; first off, my friend got into the server as I did. But I was not able to see him. He too was in the grimmag server and the same goes for me. Second question, is Grimmg a server for all nations? I mean to say I feel like there is barely anyone talking in English over there. Well I live in Saudi Arabia, so please do tell me about this.

    This is it for now, I'll throw a bunch of questions in later on!
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello @rulezmaker ,

    First off, welcome to the forums.

    Once you exit the tutorial areas, you should be able to find your friend since you're on the same server. The first urban area where you can meet other players is called Grimford. If you're having difficulty finding him, you can search him on the social menu (hotkey: F).

    The servers are more or less divided by large regions, not by language. Tegan and Agathon consists of mostly North American, South American and some Asian players. Grimmag, Werian, and Heredur are European servers. And Balor is the pvp server. Your best bet to find other English speaking players is just to give a shout in public chat and see who answers. Another option is just to look for and join an English speaking guild, so you'll always have some English speaking buddies to chat with. :D

    Cheers,
    Anyki

    Also, you may have trouble finding your friend because you are in separate "Instances." An instance is a copy of a particular map. For example imagine if there were 400 people online and all in Kingshill.... It would be crowded and a laggy. Instead, the server makes several copies of Kingshill and makes there a maximum to how many people can be in it before creating another instance. If you and your friend are in separate instances, you can find each other by the method that anyki described and then create a group. If you are grouped, then you will end up in the same instance when you exit and re-enter.

    Thank you for the replies. Well you see the thing is, I made a group with him and he too stood right besides the travel stone. I did too, but we were not able to see each other. On the other hand, today when my brother played the game with me, I was able to see him. I'm literally confused, lol.

    In that case, it means you and your friend were in separate instances of the same map, as explained by Baragain above. :)

    And as I explained above, once grouped, one of you should exit that map and re-enter... suddenly, your friend will be right in front of you.

    The other way this can happen is if you both start in a wilderness (For example, Sliphmoor) and one of you is PvP on (Red name) and the other is PvP off (White name). This is because they have recently made a patch that makes an ungrouped PvP toon end up in an Instance that is marked for PvP. The opposite holds true for PvP off. The only way around this is to group first.

    AH! Thanks a lot. Now I was finally able to see him. Mine was red for PvP and he wasn't red at the time. Another question;

    Does the gem play a role in making our defenses strong? As I've heard a lot of those gems and how they work but still couldn't think of anything. So I'd appreciate if you would shone some light on this question of mine.

    Gems do play a role in character stats. I'd advise consulting the DSO Guide for some of these basic questions. Here are the links to the gems merchant and gems overview that will help answer some questions.
