Drakensang mount system is honestly one of the best-designed I have seen, the variety of mount models are truely amazing. However, in my personal opinion, some improvements can be done. (Which can be considered in future updates, but not with high priority.) The following is my own idea come up 5 minutes ago. I hope it has not been suggested, if yes then I sincerely apologize.

It came into my attention that while the character is mounted, and surrounded by mobs, every time the character has to dismount, attack, and mount again, no matter how strong the character is comparing to the mobs. Isn't that irritating? And for players with strong characters, doesn't it make them feel less powerful, by having to bother with dismounting and attacking?

It would be an improvement, if there's such thing as mount-back skill/or mount skill. Essentially, a way to attack (or even just evade) when mounted.

Difficulty of the idea: As a (casual) programmer myself, I know it's annoying to put a lot of effort on code just to have a minor improvement. However, mounted characters don't have collision with their mounts, so I'm guessing the character model is still the same one, but with the texture different, so it should not be too difficult to have the character attack while mounted, as disabling the automatic dismounting would do the work. (Sorry if it's actually way more complicated than that.)

#1 Implement of the idea: A mount-back skill can be a skill used by the character. Ideally it can be a toggle skill, and players can toggle it on and lay back while travelling through low-level maps killing every mob in the way. Of course, that adds work to the developers, so a easier way would be just have a click-to-attack skill. To save the work from making new animation, the skill can even just be an aura (kind of) skill, so the character would have a burst-of-energy sort of aoe attack coming out, and no animation will be required.

#2 Implement of the idea: This one I don't like as I'm too cheap to afford epic mounts, but it's nevertheless a better idea in my opinion.
As for now, what's the difference between a dragon mount and a 10-gold-horse mount? The look, and that's it (and speed maybe?). Drakensang has so many mounts that other games don't have (Steambike? That's awesome), yet they are just not being used well.
Thus, mounts should have their own way of attacking. Dragons are supposed to do dragon breathes, Beasts can slash and bite, Steambikes can use some dwenmer technology, and horses can... headbutt? The attacks can likewise come out of characters, but with the corresponding distance from the character to the mount's head/claws, and it will look like as if they are coming out of mounts. New animations might be required though.

Related future development of the idea: Horse-back massive pvp?

Sorry for bad English, and thank you for reading.

TLDR: Mount skills. (Can I have a nice mount for Christmas?)

Oh so how many times this has been suggested. I dont think it will get their attention, they dont want to turn this into Pokemon online.

The thing is, once someone has a lv50 character, he/she still has to get off mount because the puny lv14 mobs are blocking the way. How would that be a good experience?

Once mounts/pets are introduced, keeping them just as buffs-with-moving-models is simply half-ass. Once again, even if letting characters attack from mount back would be a big step forward. Having an improvement like that isn't turning the game into pokemon online in my opinion, it's making it slightly more real and immersive.

But yeah, highly doubt if this whole section of forum actually gets any sort of attention.

They would do that in release 1561689654136 after they do the hotfix to the release 1561689654135 where they would again piss off people by making sure that upgrading items to end level will take 526588445221563256888255000015255366696666654122533^5 gop

BP is stuck on the notion of mounts as transportation only. It's what they can handle.

Cavalry units are very effective mobile weapons. Rapid deployment, concentrated damage, ground troops do not stand up well against huge beasts with killing machines on them.
How is it, that a few minions can block a dragon? Wussy battle dragon? Really? :p

(For the next battle mount, try elephants. Remember Hannibal?)

    Exactly @Darwarren

And @Shiladitya I totally see that happening. I'm already surprised enough that they created an expansion before they fixed the glitchy hitbox system.

Truthfully DSO is(was ?) a gem, I wasn't an avid gamer infact lower than a noob. I am old enuf in life with enough things to do but with the philosophy of never being too old for anything. I started playing DSO and got hooked. It became worse than an addiction to drugs. Even with glitches, unfair pvp system, low level twinks, even with so many people who I started playing with leaving the game, I trode on through this forest in awe. Riding Dragon even in a game was like a fantasy come true and I worked hard to achieve lvl30 knowledge to ride it, worked hard in a EDIT event to get my first dragon. As time went on I couldn't dedicate as much time as before due to other necessities in life but I always made sure to play this game even for 2-3 hours a day sacrificing sleep and friends. After 155 I tried leaving the game and although the game I went to was a much better game but I still missed the beauty or magic that DSO gave me. There were times when I have stood at a simple place like the waterfalls in wiluxshire and found myself staring in awe, even tho the falls weren't real.
But I find this game not being loved by the people who are in charge of making it better. I don't know why but I cannot find that magic anymore in the new expansion, maybe just my imagination. The people in charge I know are making other new games with the money players invest in this game. If I were in charge I would sell all I have to take this game to the heights which it deserves. But for now its just a game for which the people in charge don't have a dream, they don't dream of the potential of this game, they just think of business. And all I see are a small team dedicated to this game trying their best with whatever available resources to make this game "better" while keeping the orders of "Sell advantages in the Game AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE". DSO just makes me sad now.
