Hi! What does the final upgrade for the Hunting Arrow do aside from increasing damage by 10%? I don't quite see an improvement and i don't understand how transforming it into poison damage works. Can someone please enlighten me? :)

It's normally physical damage, so changing it to Poison, the damage reduction on it comes from poison resists instead of armor which is typically lower than armor.

What he said. I'm a DK and my physical damage reduction is about 65%, but my resistance to poison damage is only about 44% (which is actually rather high). This is significant in PvP, but in PvE, you likely won't notice too much difference as monsters have 50% reduction to both elemental damage and physical damge.

I see, well that is rather uncomfortable for a final improvement on the hunting arrow. I'm strictly PvE. :( Thanks for the answer!

Could there be any way to know which monsters (or maps maybe) have less poison res? Or just plain 'ol trial and error?:D

All monsters have 50% physical and 50% elemental reduction. This game doesn't differentiate based on the kind of monster. For example, it would make sense for an ice enemy to be weak to fire attacks, but maybe resistant to poison, but this doesn't occur. It is simply 50% across the board.
If you don't like it, don't use it. I'm sure that there are plenty of PvP rangers who love this skill. DK's have their agro skill that it 100% useless in PvP, but against Balor, it is a must. It is all just a mater of point of view.

I use it for PVP but I keep it for PVE also just for the 10%. It's not super significant, but 10% of a lot is more and 10% of a little isn't much. It's also our primary spamable attack and expecting something huge would just make it unbalance with the other classes. Damage is seldom the problem.

Better flee if I see you then. I have only 5% res and 50% armor. XD
