    Hello,

Today I am trying to farm my Splendid Durian set for my DK. While farming for the set, I got a Extraordinary Sword which had a lot better stats than my current Unique Mace (I am sorry that I cannot show the Extraordinary Sword, I sold it earlier today cause I thought I do not need it):

My question is: Do I want to break the Splendid Durian set if I get some Extraordinary items that are better than my current Uniques? As this is my first set I am collecting in this game, I am really not sure if the bonus of having the whole set equipped vs Extraordinary "set" of better equipment is worth it? :)

    Regards,

Splendid Durian set is not a rare unique set.
It is more like an entry level unique set and some extraordinary and most legendary items will have better stats.

Leading to which point? :) I will say it again, I am knew and I don't understand that: "is not a rare unique set". Does this mean, if I find better Extraordinary/Legendary items, I should break this set's bonuses? :)

Sorry for not being very clear.
I cannot give an exact answer without looking at what your item is.
For example, During set gives you bonuses when you equip multiple items from the set.
So, you need to find whether breaking the set and equipping another item would give you better stats overall. For example, 3 pieces of durian gives you +5% Armor, and if the new item would give you same as Durian piece and 5% more armor, then it is certainly worth to break it.

What you said right now, is indeed loud and clear :) Thank you for the great reply. Just one more thing to ask, does the same work for every set out there? If I find something, that can give me more than the set, I should break it, right?

Here is another way to put it. Check your stats with the "unique" and check it with the other item you found. Just look at the character stats page and don't pay attention to what the items that give you a particular set of stats and make your decision based on the end result, not the parts that get you there.

Thank you @_Baragain_ ! Your post again is really helpful. :) I just wanted to notify you after looking more at the character overall stats, I have improved my understanding what is a actually a good peace of equipment.

Good! Here is another important thing to know... Ignore the Combat Value (CV) system for judging the quality of an item. I've written at length why it is crap, but to make a long story short, it is based on a subjective system and set of values. The developers failed to have the foresight to implement a truly objective system that could truly measure the offensive and defensive capabilities of a character build.

This is exactly what I believe these low-level sets are good for, and that is making new players familiar with the choice of sets or individual items. Bear in mind that there is another set, similar to this one, once you reach the Norseland area (around lv30). Thing is, when talking about them on Twitch, the Community Managers mentioned that these items are, in strength, around the values of extraordinaries.

Now that you know how to compare set-items to individuals, good luck playing! Do not bother too much with optimizing just yet... advance normally (usually, you will not need much item-farming, unless you really find it hard to progress with the questline). Around levels 40 - 45 and onward, that is when you will have to begin fine-tuning your character.

I kinda got aware that the CV is messed up, cause I got some good items that had lower CV than the ones I had equipped :) Thank you for the advises.

Thank you @Morinphen for the advises!

The durian set (lvl 20-30) Is there for starters needing items, because legendary items and extraordinary items can be a pain to find :). Also it doesn't have very great stats so yes, there will be extraordinaries better than the set! :D
