    Greetings everyone,

I used to play DSO a few years ago and I've got some free time and want to start again.

I'm a lvl 40 Spellweaver who enjoys PvPing. Use to be a top player back in the days.

So I went to try a few matches only to realize I'm heavily under-powered nowadays. I'm easily kill by 2-3 hits. So I wanted to ask if it's due to my current gear? I've got 3 old Ammon's set pieces, snake helmet, Grimmag's Robe, life/power rings and regular legendary items.

Something I notice is that nobody do 3v3? Everything is either a 1v1 or 5v5 (Back in the day we only did 3v3) something has changed that I'm missing?

Anyways, my question is, what items should I try to get to PvP as a lvl 40 Spellweaver (I don't have any intention to lvl up any further) Also something that I notice is a lot of player with two-handed staffs? Is that viable nowadays? (it was deadly slow back then).

This is a screenshot of my stats, any hint, pointers on what to improved is highly appreciate it.

First off, welcome back. That is indeed a good toon from back in the LVL 40 days. It is really impressive that you got all the way through the original PW PoS... not too many people around who remember those times. However, by today's LVL 40 standards, you will be hard pressed to stand a chance in PvP which has been overrun by twinks who have 3-5 times the damage you have and double the HP. And that is just one example I found from over about a year ago before they even released LVL 50 and a whole bunch of events with killer gear for twinks.

I would focus first on getting to LVL 50 and improving your gear there since the time and effort to improve your gear at your current level would be more trouble then it's worth. Second, I'd focus on upgrading your knowledge level since that is a huge source of HP and damage. Finally, just get back into the grind and get familiar with the more recent additions to the game like Crafting 2.0, the new skills and skill system, gambling at the jesters, or even the achievements.

Also, this is an excellent opportunity for you to decide if you still want to keep playing a SW or if you want a change of pace and play a DK, RA, or SM since the time to take to get to 50 takes just about as long as it takes to get to LVL 40. You don't need to delete the SW, but it could give you a feel for the game from a new perspective and let you experience all the changes that you might otherwise have missed.

Out of personal curiosity, are those Ring of Life and Ring of Death the original ones from the Fellowship of Fate set? It has been ages since I've seen those.

P.S. Yes 2H weapons are now viable builds. They are still slow, but between their massive damage, the skills/gear that increase damage, and some skills that do not depend on attack speed, they are now one of the more popular builds. Even people who spend most of their time playing 1H builds keep a decent 2H in their inventory or locker to use in boss fights to save essence.

    Thank you for your reply.

Now I can see why it was so hard for me to get even a kill. One thing I noticed from that SS is that the toon is lvl 38 but the gears are almost lvl 50? How is that possible.

Yeah those items you see there are all at their original state, I left the game pretty much when that was all you could get from PW. I think PoS was the last one. the rings are indeed from the Fellowship of Fate set.

Maybe I should just look for another game to PvP. I have some free time now but not as much as I want and I hate grinding, I use to do it because I had a great group of friends/guild. Baragain sounds like a familiar name, were you a DeathInc player by any chance?

You upgrade gear with glyphs that you get from melting gear you don't need at the blacksmith. All items can be leveled up to LVL 55 (level cap +5 levels), but they don't limit lower players like they should IMHO.
I was. I changed my toon's name when they gave us a free name change. It's a shame, but DeathInc disolved about a year and a half ago after one player quit and took half of the strongest players with him in a mini coup.

Your name is blacked out in the pic, but do you mind sharing so I know this blast from my past is? :p

That's lame. I can understand being able to upgrade your gear when it's good (i.e. the Starry Robe) this was actually possible back in the days via andermants, but by no means you should be able to wear it if you upgrade it further than your current level...

I didn't know you guys kept playing for all this time, the only one I knew it was is Harr4 because I could see it by his YouTube videos. But is nice to see you enjoyed the game as much as possible. That SW from the SS is Faurink my toon. To be honest I don't feel like struggling for gears, and being a f2p player myself I don't see me power leveling my way up either, so I guess I should look for something else to spend my free time

I remember you... I still have my friends list full of people at LVL 40 who left the game. I call it the history/memorial of the strongest players on Agathon.

Harra is indeed still playing. He and I are still in the same guild together.

Regarding upgrading gear, I like it, but it should be limited to no more than 5 levels above the players level to keep things sort of fair, but since when did BP listen to people who knew what they were talking about.

I hope you stick around. So much has changed in the past couple years that in some ways, it is a totally different game. If you do stick around, just hit me up if you ever want a helping hand. Back then, I was just an OK tank in an awesome guild, but now I'm one if the strongest DKs on the server and I love to be able to help and give back to my fellow players. And don't worry about gear, it will come as you farm, and there are lots of uniques these days allowing for all sorts of interesting builds.

Haha, yeah those were some really good days with everyone.
I don't know, maybe I will. For now I was just trying to complete the Cloak of Power quest. I just can't handle seeing that purple color among all the orange items in my current gear :)

Also I started to play a browser MMO yesterday, the aesthetics are kind of ugly but it's fun and decent so will see.
