Hello everyone. Few days ago, I decided to buy from the premium shop the green raptor, as it gives 5% more damage, to change my bearach pet. Unfortunately, I realised that the damage the green raptor gives me, is lower than bearach. Why is that? It shouldn't be the other way around, that bearach gives less damage as it is flat damage from the raptor that is % damage?
Thank you in advance for the help.

it is "increased damage", not " more"
the amount of bonus damage is depend on your base damage, your real base damage. The base damage you see on your character screen is already include other " increased damage" sources

If you have 6000 max damage, but it is after the 50% damage you get from the Knowledge points, then you actually have 4000 damage and the 5% of the raptor is the 5% of 4000, which is +200 max damage, but it also effects min damage. If you have 4500 min damage, then you have 3000 min damage when you take the knowledge points away. That means that you get 150 min damage. So, a build with 4500-6000 damage would get 150-200 damage, so you could consider this as adding 175 to the average damage. The bear works the other way around. It gives you 80 damage, but if you have the same 50% damage from Knowledge, you actually get 120 damage from the Bear.

Additionally, the 5% raptor is calculated in the same calculation as the essence, where as the bear's damage is improved by essence. Here is an example: If you use the bear with blue essence, the bear gives you 80*(1+0.5+essence). With reds, the bear is worth 360 damage. If you use the raptor (going back to the 6000 damage with 4000 base damage), you only get 200 damage out of the raptor no matter what kind of essence you use.

Here are some general guidelines to consider when picking the bear or the raptor.
    • If you are using green essence:
      • If you have lower damage, especially from a 1H weapon, use the bear.
      • If you have very high damage from using a powerful 2H weapon, use the raptor.
    • If you are using blue or higher essence, use the bear.
      • The only exception to this is if you have high enough damage that the 5% of the base damage is more than what you would get from the essence applied to the bear.
      • With blue essence, only use the raptor if you have more than 4000 average base damage (6000 with knowledge), for example, 3500-4500 damage (5250-6750 with knowledge). This gives 200 average damage, same as the bear would give with blues.
      • With purple essence, only use the raptor if you have more than 5600 average base damage (8400 with knowledge) for example, 5000-6200 damage (7500-9300 with knowledge). This gives 280 average damage, same as the bear would give with purples.
      • With red essence, only use the raptor if you have more than 7200 average base damage (10.8k with knowledge) for example, 6500-7900 damage (9750-11850 with knowledge). This gives 360 average damage, same as the bear would give with reds.
There are some items, like torsos, that also give % damage, and those items will make the bear better and the raptor comparatively worse.

So, basically both are effective pets, and all depends on the damage you have in order to see what is more useful for the char. Like for example, if you have the damage that with any essences gives from the raptor the same as the bear, you can use either, and if you have the damage that the raptor gives lower from the bear, you use the bear as it will be more effective.
Good to know how those pets are working, because I got a bit confused when I saw the differences.
    Thanks for the help.

That is it in a nutshell. Both are good in the right situations. The biggest difference between the two of them is that the raptor costs 5k gold and a premium membership, but the bear just took a bit of farming during the event and was easily achievable for a F2P. I have the bear and I feel no desire to buy the raptor since I'm usually running with essence (I have tons and tons of blue) and when I'm not running with essence, the little difference between the bear and the raptor isn't worth 5k gold in my opinion, when compared to the amount of crafting I'd like to do with the gold.

Still waiting on a Gnob sale for the bear, I have 3/4 parts. But I have more than enough pets to make-do (liking the M'Edusa doll with the 25% increase from knowledge tree). 5000 gold is a bit steep to me as well, it isn't that awesome.

    Hey there guys,

Thank you for your support!! Appreciated ;)

That's exactly what they wrote before - you must check if it gives you more damage (absolute numbers) or increase damage (in a % way).
Was your question fully answered, @Nevma ?

    Cheers,
