New GTC, My Personal view

I have seen some posts in the 'Ask the CM' thread and also a few a new threads started on this topic so I figured I would say a few words based on my long (Nov 2011) experience with this game and others.

First off it is unlikely there will be any "layman's" wording official explanation posted here. That would kinda defeat the purpose of the legaleaze, lol. If any of this kinda stuff actually made sense most of the lawyers in the world would be unemployed

Second, and more important, none of this is really new. The wording has been changed to confuse the innocent.

Playing two accounts at once... has always been a violation. I have known players in the past that have has their accounts suspended for this. Don't know if they were perma-banned 'cause they quit the game anyway.

Sitting next to a friend/family member using 2 computers but the same net access... no worries there. I mean, like seriously?

Now if those same two players have a significant level split, for whatever purpose, that's where it gets interesting. This falls under the definition of "pushing." Every online game in existence has a "pushing clause in their T&C. The definition of pushing always has some variation of the word "Fair" in it. Fair is subjective and has no legal definition (aren't lawyers fun )

So what's going to change in the future regarding helping lower level players level up (or not as in the case of twinks?) Well who really knows. But what I do know is the decision is going to be based on only two things. 1) How it affects the revenue stream and 2) How it affects the sustainability of the game to protect that revenue stream. That's it, bottom line. I'll just let everyone's mind wander to whatever conclusion they want on that one.

On to having more than one account. If those accounts were created before the new GTC goes into effect the from a legal pov that falls under something commonly referred to as "grandfathering." But from a practical pov you have to go back to the early days. Prohibiting more than one account is a very old BP clause. Then they created this game, that if you wanted to play both character classes, (later three) you actually needed more than one account. Multi-toon accounts did not exist back then.

On top of that if someone is P2P on more than one account does anyone really believe that they are going to get shut down? F2P's need not worry either since singling them out creates a whole new headache for the company.

Suspending accounts after being inactive for 30 days. Well this one has always been there as well but with less specific wording. Here's the part of this supposed change. If a player has ever spent a penny on this game do you know happens after 30 days of inactivity? It triggers an offer for a discount to buy anders.

There were some other points I was going to cover but it is getting close to new Daily's. I always need to check first thing at least my level 40+ toons that I am still playing for clovers so I can plan my game day (on my multiple accounts ofc )

I guess I am just try to say that to me this is much ado about nothing. Every single online service I am engaged with updates their T&C from time to time. Without an accompanying change in mechanics this has no affect on my usual activities. I feel the same applies to this game. I have more important things to worry about... like global climate change (oh heck, who am I kidding. I am way too old to even worry about that )

Interesting that you would say that. I think that it is easier to understand and some of the ambiguity was removed, but some new confusion was added like you pointed out because everyone doesn't know if it will apply to twinks. My simple solution to that is "Don't be a filthy, good for nothing, game ruining, bullying twink and you have nothing to fear" and the rest of it seems pretty self explanatory.
