    Hi everyone,

I just started the game and am a little confused with several stats on weapons.

I notice that some items with higher CV has lower min/max dmg, lower DPS, and lower attack speed. But they have some value of Critical Damage.

Some weapons with lower CV, has higher min/max dmg (by quite a lot - 20-50), higher DPS, and a little faster attack speed. But they don't have crit dmg, but has +n% damage.

So I don't really understand this. Given that crit hit rating is equal, why would a simple case of crit-dmg increase the CV value? Or does that really not matter?

    Thanks!

    CV = Confuse Value
That's what it does, nothing else. Just ignore it & use items work with your build regardless it CV.

Look at this HARRA81's Glove. It's only 178 CV. It's not a weapon, but you get the idea.

Yes, the CV is the stupidest thing in the game. IGNORE IT!
And also... critical damage lines on a weapon aren't a good choice (maybe if you have a high critical hit rate... but still, it's not a good choice unless you don't have anything better to use), it's best to have "increased damage on this item" lines on your weapon because they increase your damage by adding damage gems into it... I'll show you my weapon to see the difference with slightly better gems:
    [IMG] [IMG]
It's just a 15 damage gem difference that increased my weapon's DPS with just 32.16, but that's around 300 more DPS for my build.

Oh wow. Thanks, gun and bLaind.

I suppose I've been going about it wrong - I am increasing my crit hit rate a lot, and a modest amount of crit damage. I suppose I should change that to increased weapon damage instead then.

Oh, also, I added 4 legendary items ranging from Lvl 14-20 to craft but it says it can't be combined? I'm wondering why? There's one staff and the rest are armour/accessories. All legendary. But the staff was crafted from 4 purples. Is that the problem?

I just wanted to check if I understand correctly here.
So the staff here, the DPS is higher on the right, and the crit is also higher on the right, but the % damage increase is less. So which is better?

Same with the ring, so the blue ring is better?

And the robes, apprentice robes is better?

And the tiara on the right with the crit rate is better?

Also, Gun, in your image, there are 3 attack speed values. Why is that?

    Thank you!

Legendary to legendary crafting is allowed only between the same kind of items. Random crafting isn't working on legendary to legendary.

About the weapons... Maybe if you had some nice damage gems the lower level staff would've been better, but in this case the level 20 weapon looks better despite its lower increased damage line.

The rings... I would use the legendary one... But then again, I don't know what you're hoping to build. Just use what is better for your character.

I guess you could still use the same torso (FYI torsos can have increased damage lines, which are the best for DPS builds).

The tiara looks better if you have some nice critical hit rate lines, but the increase could also be insignificant... You may also need the resistance... I don't know, if you want a more balanced character... but you'll end up changing your equipment quite often as you level up.

Apologies. I've corrected the image links. TQ.

Ah, thanks very much, bLaind. Also, I've read a forummer who mentioned that you can revert item crafting if it wasn't to your liking. But in all cases, the revert button is greyed out and cannot be chosen. Or is that only an option for legendary to legendary crafting? Thanks again!

This is very helpful - especially the reasoning behind your recommendations. I think I've got the idea now. Thanks very much. :)

    I can explain that.

Enchanted items (Improved, Magic, Extraordinary, and Legendary) all come with a certain number of enchantments; 1 for Improved, 2 for Magic, 3 for Extraordinary, and 4 for Legendary. When you have more than one of the same type of enchantments, like attack speed in Harra's gloves, it combines all of them together to see the total easier for comparing items. That is the first gold number you see (39.45%). Then, in the parentheses, it shows you the four individual enchantments that make up the total line (10.0, 9.6, 10.0, and 9.8).

Also, as a bit of advice, don't worry about crafting until you reach the higher levels. It is expensive and time consuming, and at low levels you will quickly find gear that is better. For the time being, save your gold and just work on quest progression.

Reverting a craft can only be done when you use four of the same kind of items. For example, 4 gloves, 4 two handed weapons, 4 belts... that sort of thing. But still, see what I said above about crafting at low levels.

    Final bit of advice:
When you reach the higher levels and are ready to start dedicating months of time and effort to crafting the ultimate gear, then I recommend a through read through the guide I wrote about crafting here. It is a long read and some of it may be over your head until you've been around the game a little longer, but I can guarantee that it is the best approach to craft what you want. One only needs to look through the Crafting Results thread to see that it works and it gives you an idea of the incredible items that can be made with enough time, patience, gold, farming, and luck.

Thanks for the clarification and advice on crafting, Baragain. I think I just sometimes get too frustrated with PvP, so I get impatient and try crafting to see if I can get an eq upgrade. haha. On that note, the mechanic's extra cannons do make quite a lot of difference in PvP - at least at my level (and skill).

    Greetings,

Ok,so I'd like to add my comment too, since im a low lvl player like the author of this thread
I really struggle getting a good 2h weapon for my 15lvl mage and all the weapons i crafted were bad.
Some infos for my weapon i have right now and what i have in stash.
My current weapon is a blue with 54,92% increased dmg and 8 dmg and i leveled it up to 46(and yes i know the %dmg is too low) and i think im gonna stop at this level..Not worth wasting more glyphs on that weapon for like 50-60dmg per lvl..My rubies right now are 16,11,11,11,11 on the weapon..
About my stash(and im telling u this cuz i really need an advice) : a pink with 121%dmg 2slots , a pink with 87%dmg and 12 dmg 2slots and i have 3 blue weapons with 88% dmg that im going to craft(Im talking about 2h weapons)
I've asked some friends if is worth it equiping one of those 2 pinks that i have in stash but they werent too persuative..
I keep crafting 2 or 3 blue items per day but i keep getting a really bad pink,or i get a pink with low %dmg.
So,i'd like to hear some opinions or some advices on how i can handle this thing with my weapon, how i should craft and in general some tips about SW and whats the ideal %dmg i should have on a blue/pink staff
English is not my native language,so i hope the post i wrote is understandable :)

    , thanks in advance

You might notice how bLaind relate the item enchantments with certain build or other item enchantments.
It is because better/best item would be item that support a build that you aim.
We think an item not as individual, but 1 among 12. It may support the other 11, or only result slightly changes, or may mess up the other.
Please consider to choose 1 kind of build first. And then use items to support that build. While not yet reach the end game yet.. consider 2 builds. pure damage or damage-hp build.
Pure Damage build very simple. Use items that increase you damage. In certain case you might need a tank to agro mobs to avoid death.
Damage-HP build also simple. Use item that increase you damage but does not decrease you HP, vise versa. You can always solo with this build.

For crafting topic, please consider what Baragain trying to tell Unagiri.
I highlight the 2 important things. Higher levels and months of time.

    And for your weapon topic.
Both are good weapons. I believe those weapon can kill mobs very quick.
By reading the Crafting Results thread that Baragain already mentioned above, you will get the idea of ideal weapons.

    Cool. Thanks very much! :)

    ---MERGED---

First, I apologize for the multiple post, but I couldn't cut/paste gun's Quote blocks when I edited my first reply - I don't know why that is.

Gun, I realize that bLaind referenced builds. But I'm just trying to have a balanced build right now (meaning, decent DPS, AC rating and health that won't cause me to die when I'm up against bosses even after quaffing potions). I figure that when I get to the 30+ or 40 level, then perhaps I'd be more certain over what build I should go for. With your description, I suppose I'm more of a Dmg-HP build right now.

That being said, I am now trying out a wand/orb for PvP, and while I can last quite a bit longer in the arena, I can't really make use of that time to do enough damage. :)

Also, am I correct in assuming that a high Crit Hit Rating will only result in more crit damage IF the mob is equal or lower level then the player? And the higher the mob's level from the player, the less number of Crit Hits even if the rating is high.

And if this is correct, then am I correct to presume that plain damage increase is therefore better than crit dmg and crit hit stats (unless they're really significantly much much higher)?

    Thanks.

And if I may reply to your question, Suicidejockey:

"a pink with 121%dmg 2slots , a pink with 87%dmg and 12 dmg 2slots and i have 3 blue weapons with 88% dmg that im going to craft"

From what I understand, I think a 121% increase in damage is much better than a 46 damage increase? That is, if you really mean % and not min/max damage. Since it scales up from your base weapon damage (unless I'm mistaken).

One quick way to gauge, is to just press C and then change the weapons and see how your base damage/crits/spells increase or decrease. That should tell you really quickly how much each weapon affects your stats/damage.

    Hope this helps.

So,i think i dont get the increased weapon damage as I thought and i missundrestand it..I swichted to a blue as well 92,24% increased weapon dmg(yesterday i had a blue 54,92% increased weapon dmg and 13dmg) and i lost 19 min dmg and gained 98 max dmg leveling up both at 46 level with same rubies
My current stones at my weapon are 2x 16dmg and 2x 11dmg with a 496dps
As for increased weapon damage if im not mistaken i think it works like this : 92,24% weapon dmg x (16x16x11x11) from my stones ?!?!
And i cant now use one of the pinks cuz i can level them up to 38-39 level, and i lose much damage bcs i can compare the damage since my pinks have 2 slots only..
Is it worth opening 2 or 3 more slots?

    Thanks for your time

You're encountering the plague of low lvl pvp... twinks (like this other guy asking for advices in your thread), they pour money into these low lvl characters, upgrade their items to high lvls, use big tier gems and they usually use an xp blocker... they bully and drive away "normal" and new players, but the game company likes them because they make money from them.
That's what a SM does, he let's the turrets do all the work while he runs around to survive.
If you're playing against twinks, you're just delaying the inevitable.
Okay, I'm gonna explain to you a little bit on how the the critical works in this game.
The CHR (critical hit rate) is the chance of your character landing a critical hit, and if you land a critical hit you will make... let's just take the default critical damage value of +100% (or x2,00)... the damage you will make would be your base damagex2 (or base damage+100% of your base damage).
To be more clear... let's say you have a base damage of 100-200 (100 min. damage, 200 max. damage).
If you land a critical hit you will make damage between 200-400. That's the base damagex2. But then again, you won't actually make that damage because monsters have a 50% damage reduction (I think), so you'll actually make a 100-200 crit hit (without crit hits, with a base damage of 100-200 you'll actually make 50-100 damage).
Now, the damage you make with critical hits will increase further with more critical damage.
But... this it's just my opinion... I consider that you should increase the critical damage only after you have a critical hit rate over 40%, but then again, I'm talking from the perspective of an end-level DragonKnight.

    Try this out...

Ahhh the same issue with low level players by 50'ers,whining over and over and i really dont get it..I've seen many ppl complain about those low level players and i really dont get it..Whats the problem of low level players good sir ? I dont know why this war started between 50 lvl players and the low levels..Noone said that someone can use xp block to farm or something similar.
I just dont get motivated of getting levels and doing the quests..
And as for the "bullying" or any other term you use for low level players,i think every "normal" and new player can use mentor bonus in arena and find a block to upgrade his items..We just have a different opinion on how we procced into the game cause noone said that u have to reach level 50,its in your own hand how u handle ur character
And as for "the pour money" to upgade their items,i farm like 8 to 9 hours per day,and my char is f2p..There are also 50ers that pay much money to get stronger or w/e they want to be

    ,peace

I suppose if no one pays for anything (within reason), there wouldn't be a game for us to play. Haha.

And, I don't even know that an xp blocker exists!

This is informative, thank you. However, with respect to CHR, does your level affect its effect on mobs? For example, if I have a 100% CHR, and I am Level 30.

    (1) Does this mean that I will get a 100% critical hit with every attack for mobs that are Level 30 and below?
    (2) And does this mean that if I fight mobs that are higher than Level 30, the 100% CHR drops proportionately with how much higher the mob is from Level 30? Meaning, theoretically, if I am fighting a Level 60, my CHR is then effectly only 50%, for instance. (I'm just plucking numbers out of the air, just to illustrate what I mean).

    Thanks!

    ---

On a totally unrelated note, I noticed that there is a very frustrating tendency for players to 'steal your kill'. I'm not sure if this is a frequent, and thus 'normal', thing for MMOs these days.

When I used to play MUDs and other MMOs a long time ago, it was considered in bad taste and discourteous to just barge in while someone is obviously halfway killing an NPC and start attacking as well.

And it wasn't just one character who was doing that but whole troves of them trying to out-distance each other just trying to reach the next respawn to finish off their quest. Very distasteful.

On a good note, I popped a Remin's Battle Harness! WOO HOO! (I understand the higher levels may view it with disdain, but I'm happy with it for now, with the max damage increase).

The problem with low level twinks is that they discourage new players working their way up the game. The new players do some pvp, perhaps because they get something like the win x battles or kill x players in their daily quests, run into the low level twinks, get slaughtered instantly, and quit, depriving the game of new players.

It's not an object it's another player... When you group up with another player that is over (or under) 5 levels from your character no one in the group gets any experience from killing monsters.
i.e.: If you're lvl 30 and you group with someone of lvl 36 or lvl 24 no one gets any experience points.

FYI, the max CHR is 80%... 100% doesn't exist here in DSO.
About your inquiry... If you hover above your CHR value you'll see that description window, and its description is pretty clear and you seem to understand it. So yeah, you got it right.

Yes it happens a lot since almost everyone on that map has similar quests, and because of that it's a good idea to make/join a group when you have quests to do in wilderness areas.
