I think there must be a better tune of the difficult in the arena.
The bosses of the last 4 rounds in painful are harder than bosses in infernal 1-2 PW, not only they have massive CC, there are tons of mobs that you hardly have been able to kill in time before the boss spawn (because for those rounds the spawning time it's freaking fast) but they also have insane DMG.
Both the mages in round 7 and 8 oneshotted me with 55kHP and 60% fire res with their fireballs which seem to be bugged because they are firing 2-3 of them at once (I'm sure about this because everytime I got 1shotted there was a second fireball that was passing though me).
The iron dwarfs were doable ONLY IF you were lucky enought to spot the fire dwarf and run away from him in time before he activates his firenova which was dealing 20-30k dmg PER TIC (not even grimmag in fatal was doing that much and it was just PAINFUL).
After having spent 2-4 120 ander res PER RUN I gave up to solo it and got back to farm it in normal which was extremply frustrating.
The event done in painful would be pretty doable for the time spent but the difficult forces ppl to do this in normal which is really boring.

About the truncheon, so far the best one for me was the tamer as the lowest thing it gave was a 1700 ander mount (I was looking for some pet and if I get one rare pet I will hit the jackpot because they are worth 20k+ ander).
The gem one only gave me flawed gems which were not worth the effort but honestly, I don't see a vendor that is really better then the others.. the rate to get something good seem really bad on any of them.

It's a pretty sad event for a 6 years annyversary... probably BP doesn't consider the annyversary an event to celebrate with interesting stuff.

    [edit]
Now I've turned back to use my truncheons on the gem vendor as it resulted to give only splintered gems or better while, the tamer, turned out to give consistently 1490 ander mounts which were useless once I got em both.

In order to finish the event you need to consistently farm egg openers, which is super boring, and do the arena, which is super hard. For an average player mainly the last 4 rounds are impossible even on normal, but in a group of 3-5 it's doable. At least it pushes players to play in groups which is fine. Althouh you will definitely lose a lot of spirit stones reviving your friends.

The random drop from pinatas is horrid. It's so frustrating watching your truncheons depleding as you keep hitting Gnob's pinata and the only things that fall out are dye spheres. If you are lucky you can get some runes and mounts but don't count on that. Also spending truncheons on gem pinata and receiving lv1 or lv2 gems is devastating :/

Main prize for completing the event is pretty much just aesthetic as well as the two event things for sale for the crystals, which is the costume and the horse.

So earning those thigns that are mainly just for the looks, receiving some really poor drop from pinatas, inevitably wasting excessive numbers of spirit stones in the arena and having to farm and farm and farm render this event pretty disappointing.

    I have a serious question:
Why are openers only dropping as singles? Why are there not 1x, 3x and 5x opener drops?

Take that question back to the Dev Team and please bring us back the reasoning.

More than likely it is because you could finish the event without ever doing the arena if the drops were tripled.

You mean *gasps* the average player could then finish an event?? Say it isn't so....

*deep booming voice from stage left:* Yup. It's not so. Only the lifeless hard core and those who spend willy-nilly get to finish events.

    :(:(:(

If an average player is a person who plays for 2 hours a day, it's impossible to finish it.

The design of Monster Hunter event is even better. Even if you play 12 hours a day, there's still no way you could finish it without buyng at least one 5k ander buff.

I remember when most events could be finished in a timely manner even by the casual player. Ah, the good old days.

As for this particular event, I guess the really strong and the heavy payers enjoyed it very much. I skipped it myself, not worth the time knowing that I would never hope to finish it.

Too long to complete for people with a real life. Next year please either make it 10 days longer or increase the drop rate of egg openers by 50-100%.

Egg openers dropping in normal farming maps is welcome. So the event can be progressed at the same time as materia farming.

The mount and costume should have been spaced along the main event progress bar, rather than being purchases from Phestos.
What serious player would spend all those cots on buying these vanity items, when they can buy truncheons for gems instead?

Please either make the brown satchels easier to see on the ground, or include them for auto pickup.
    This applies to all events.

250 truncheons for Zumpe's pinata! Really?! 50 would be more realistic.

Replace the arena with something less repetative. I really like what you did with the Depths of Demise maps. Do something like that, where various routes and outcomes are possible, more often please!
