Important to know about Dunes of Desolation​

• It brings you complete new quests, rewards, foes and challenge mechanics!
• It will be repeatable on a seasonal basis.
• The entry to the main map, Great Desert, is from Kingshill and it’s completely free of charge! For the other maps, you will always need an entrance key that can always be farmed through repeatable quests or Bone Coins with some of the NPC of Zahir’s town.
• Each trader NPC will accept only specific types of currencies. Please take your time to read this guide and explore the different buying possibilities.

How to start and proceed with the event

Head to Kingshill and head to Zahir, the Magical Weaver, to get the first quest going, “Home is Calling”. You’ll get immediate access to the Great Desert, where he’s originally from.

Once in the town of Hiraja, find Zahir again to unveil more details about the mystery upon the land. In the first steps of the main quest, “Missing Friends”, you’ll need to help Zahir freeing some of his associates: Soraya, Wael and Zahra. Don’t forget to talk to these folks at all times as some of them have also unfinished business and may require your help! The more people you help, the more stores you can open (read below to see what each vendor has in stock for you).

Further inside the adventure, your investigations will conduct you to the Evergreen Oasis, the Temple of Agony and the Sealed Chamber. Ready up for the challenges and revelations that await your journey – it’s going to be a wild one!​

After you have completed the final quest, do not hesitate to return to Hiraja. Some of its merchants will have repeatable quests that will grant you keys to all the places mentioned above!​

Special event challenges – Rising Storm​

​

On top of the normal event, we have two challenges happening for shorter amount of time – albeit, more frequently! They will be active for 6 hours per day, divided in three time frames of 2 hours each!​

When any of these two challenges is on, you will see a heavy sandstorm all over the desert parts of each map. Beware of this one, as it’s adding a penalization to your hero! Each time the sandstorm is on, there will be a new trader appearing, NPC Fahid, who has a store plus two quests.​

Since there are two different challenges, there are two different quests so make sure you visit him in each challenge to get these two! Also, Fahid will change some of his wares depending on the storm.​

• Challenge 1 is linked to the quest “Hunting Nightmares” (in the Evergreen Oasis), which needs Repair Scrolls.
• Challenge 2 is linked to the quest “Ghost Hunting” (in the Temple of Agony), which needs Dust Cloths.

The Sand hills​

​

Across your adventures you will find Small and Large Sand hills. Look for those in the following maps: Great Desert, Evergreen Oasis and the Temple of Agony. You will need either 1 or 5 shovels to dig out all their contents! (Shovels can be purchased from NPC Zahir). If you are lucky, you will get the Sand Whirl decorative effect – if not, you can still get some goodies for your hero!Some of them are always there. Some of them have a random spawning chance to appear in the map!

How does the crafting system work here? ​

There are three new equipment items for you in this event: the Necklace of the Dunes, the Ornamentation of the Dunes and the Waistband of the Dunes. All of these can be crafted until Tier 3, therefore incrementing general stats and effects.​

You can combine four Tier 1 items of the same type at the workbench and get a Tier 2 item.You can then combine three Tier 2 items with a Gnob’s Jade-Nut crafting stone and get a Tier 3 item. You will find Gnob’s Jade-Nut crafting stone at Gnob for 2000 Draken.

Jewels of the Desert – Set Bonus

You need to reach Tier 3 in order to get the set bonus, which will work regardless of the color of the items you choose to wear.​

• For wearing 1 piece: Whenever you get stunned, a Sand Whirl will appear and attack your foes, inflicting 15% of your base damage upon surrounding enemies for 10 seconds (180 seconds countdown).
• For wearing 3 pieces: +1500 Critical hit rate
• For wearing 3 pieces: +60 Damage (level dependent)

 

Trade system in the event

This desert is old and the currencies are different for different traders. Here the folks pay with either Bone Coins, Finest Earth, Precious Sprayers, White Flour or Beaded Dreamcatchers.

When you complete some of the first quests and bring Zahir’s friends back to town, you will see that they will open their wares for you and will offer different items. It’s important to notice that there are different currencies in this event and that each NPC uses a different currency.
