I've just taken a survey I received in the mail box from BP.

The first question it asked was:

"How likely are you to recommend Drakensang to a friend or colleague?"

I wasn't sure how to answer the question :|
I mean. DSO is not that bad, but there are lots of issues with it, mostly in the end game.

    How would you reply?

Other than that, the survey was focused on texts and stories and overall feel of the DSO world.
I don't think these are the biggest problems the game has.

If you don't like reading in games, you can easily skip the dialogues. In fact, it's usually hard to read anything in multiplayer games, because your group is rushing and you don't want to slow them down.

I think the survey is to get individual responses, not group ones.

As to how to reply? Go with your gut. If you don't have an answer, skip the question if you can or go neutral if you can't.

    Well, if 1 = definitely no, and 10 = definitely yes, I chose 4.

In the past (4 years ago) I told 2 people about DSO. One of them stayed for 3 days up to level 25, and the other one up to level 30.
These days, I wouldn't invite anyone, most likely.

I used to view DSO as my guilty pleasure. Unfortunately, it has been becoming less and less pleasure, and more and more guilty.

And what about the rest of the survey?
Do you think the dev team should be concerned with texts and story now? Don't other things have much higher priority?
Or do you think there's more under the surface? Like maybe they are in a pre-production of a new expansion, so they're collecting feedback about story and the DSO world?

7 maybe 8 Only problem i have with the game is how often they start events ( I dont play pvp). In this game the community is pretty friendly there is nothing in this game that can make you angry (except drop chance) .

We need a new adventure ! Add q10, 11 or 12 will be boring after 1 hour... This game is not so much fun anymore, the extension announced for 2018 never took place.

So i can't recommand this game, it is too hard for a new player and boring after some months.

I have recommended Drakensang in the past to numerous people one has stayed most have quit
I would not recommend it now and have not asked anyone else to play this for a few years now
They are driving end game players away while level 20 twinks some how have the 3 v 3 5 v 5 and 6 v 6 PVP mounts some how this is never fixed and has to be cheating but hey we will make end game play harder and harder so people continue to leave

Back in 2013/14 I used to invite people I knew to try DSO. Some actually played for a while, up until the great nerf of R155.

That one killed most of my playing time also. Why bother spending a lot of time building up a character just to have that time, effort and/or money taken from you?

Of course that wasn't the last nerf, so my time playing DSO got less and less. For the last year or so I only log on to play the full moon event (which is still tolerable) and I've logged on to try a few new releases but that only left a bad taste in my mouth.

For me, I can't think of anything to recommend that outweighs the bad in this game.

What would I say to a potential player?

How fun it is to grind for wisdom? How boring and unrewarding the events are? How the drop rates are horrible? How the crafting system is the worst I've seen in any game that I've ever played? How fun it is to grind for useless mining materials?

I guess that I could recommend to a potential player to keep an eye out just in case the dev's are replaced by people who actually have played games before and realize that players need to feel rewarded for time and effort.

    Edit to add:

Now if I would recommend something to someone, it would be to the dev's of DSO.

Back in March there was an exceptional speech at the Game Designers Conference about reward for effort in gaming. That speech was given by the managing director of one of the very popular loot based rpg's and it was easy to realize why millions still play that game and why DSO is never even talked about among gamers.
