    Greetings Heroes,

The purpose of this post is to take the time to respond to a few of your questions which we have read and which have also been raised in the community several times. We'd also like to apologize for the long wait and hope that we can answer your questions here:

Why do so many connection problems occur on the Heredur server between the hours of 4:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.?
It's true that there are connection problems (on the Heredur server). We're also following this event, but until now, we unfortunately haven't been able to identify the exact cause. Our server statistics also indicate that connection losses have occurred.

In order to solve the problem, we are going to screen external systems – based on our experience, this may take some time to complete. As soon as we have more information about the cause of the problem, we will make sure to fill you in.

Why do “Error 21“ and other error messages constantly appear at the beginning of an event?
These errors are annoying indeed. The DSO team spends weeks preparing an adventure-filled event for you and then the team is just as frustrated as you are when you can't enjoy the game due to connection problems!
A little bit about the root of the problem: Most of the six instances feature an automatic allocation and control function from so-called “map servers“. This function makes sure that when there is an onslaught of players that there are enough maps for these players and then distributes these players among these maps. Unfortunately, we have been experiencing problems here, but we are already working on a way to fix this problem.
As a result, we have started, for example, to stagger large events according to time zones as well as to start events earlier in order to better cope with the onrush of players to servers.

Further measures will soon be taken. Rest assured that we are aware of these problems and that we are working on correcting them.

Why don't you report in the forum more often?
First of all, we want to remind you that the forum has an amazing moderator team who you can always count on for assistance. We keep in constant contact with the mod team and therefore always know what you post in the forum, what your wishes are and which problems have popped up.

For this reason, we'd like to ask you to treat your mods with the respect they deserve and not to doubt what they say – after all, they are our link to you.
Nevertheless, we also agree with you: Sometimes it's just nice to speak directly with each other. We also think it's necessary to pop by the forum once in a while and touch base with you. It must be noted however that we do not wish to interfere with the work of the forum moderators, but rather to be in the forum more often in order to address your questions. Of course, we don't speak all languages that are offered in DSO, but with the help of the moderator team we can aid you. The DSO community team is already working on a plan on how we can be in the forum and chat more often as well as involve the DSO team all starting in April.

Why has nothing happened for quite some time? Why aren't there any new updates with new content? Why haven't you published any roadmap?
The DSO community is very large, and, as always, when many people meet, there are naturally many different opinions. Some people want to have bugs fixed, where others call for new content and features. Our job is to strike a happy balance that will provide lots of fun over the long run.
Over the last two years, we've introduced a lot of new content into the game, even when you weren't aware of it. A few examples include the Norselands, Atlantis, the parallel worlds, Myrdosch, the Steam Mechanicus and many other small features.

We grew so quickly, that in retrospect, we weren't even able to properly overhaul some features in order to make them run flawlessly.

You, the fans, didn't just notice and criticize this, but we too also took note of this problem. That's why, at the moment, our top priority is to gradually remove these bugs and restructure things to ensure once again that playing the game is fun. We have often read that you seem to think that we haven't been addressing the “real bugs“ (e.g. the PvP system), but instead that we pack lots of smaller bug-fixes and improvements into a release.

The reason for this is that we are currently in a transition phase (as you already know) – we have only just begun changing our work processes. Now our task is to shape the future of the game using the new plan and then we can introduce the new roadmap.

We still want to respect your ideas from 2013. One thing is certain for us: this year we want to intensify our focus on guilds and social features in order to encourage interactive play. However, we want to take more time for ourselves, instead of churning out one release after the other.

Here a few examples where the community's voice played a role in our decision: The moon events were modified to make them more interesting and balanced. And guess who triggered us to do this? That's right, you did!

Release 121 introduced freely configurable buttons to the game, and the idea for the event “Kingshill under Invasion“ also stems from the community. So as you can see, your voice and feedback count. But please understand that it takes us some time to implement them, of course.

Further statements about the topics you reported to us will be made soon. Just because they weren't reported here, does not mean that we will not address them.

To wrap up our statement, we'd like to summarize everything in the next steps:

    Our goal is to:

    · improve communication with you
    · identify the cause of the connection problems and eliminate it
    · remove reported bugs from the game

We want to significantly increase the level of fun in the game and develop DSO in cooperation with you. That's why, at this point, we'd like to say THANK YOU for your feedback, your opinions as well as your requests, which have helped make Drakensang Online the unique game it is today.

    Your Drakensang Online Community Team
