    Heroes and Heroines of Duria!

As you know, we're always working to improve our games and make them even more fun and challenging for you. This doesn't end with the games themselves. It also applies to our communications platform, which we use to keep you informed and provide game-specific information.
We know you look for information here, as well as the chance to communicate with other players, so we've spent a lot of time in recent months pondering how to make the forum even better and more secure.

Here's what we discovered: the software we've been using up until now is not only antiquated, but in fact fundamentally flawed. Unfortunately, there's no way to migrate the existing forums as you know them to a new update.

Our engineers tested numerous different pieces of forum software, charting out their feature sets to help decide which new platform we should use. The time has now come to retire our old vBulletin forum and move to a new forum better suited to our needs.
We're very pleased with the new choice and see this move as an important milestone in our growth. We're confident that this new forum software will help us keep you better informed and secure in the future.

For technical reasons, the move to the new software will also involve a few unavoidable changes as well.

    Old forum accounts and entries:
As you might have guessed from everything above: the new forum will completely replace the old one. There will be a new database, one that is quite different at the technical level from the old one.
This means that your old forum accounts and posts will not be moved to the new forum!
We'll be maintaining the old forum after the switchover so that you can access it via a direct link, but you won't be able to post anything new there anymore. Once we move, all new posts will have to be made exclusively in the new forum.

    Official announcements and FAQs:
We'll naturally be working to ensure that the knowledge base for the games — meaning the FAQ areas — will be published quickly and completely in the new forum. Very old announcements will not be migrated, but we do plan to migrate 'medium-old' announcements to the new forum so that you don't lose sight of any key information.

    Forum start phase:
We’ve tested the new forum software as extensively and true-to-life as possible. Even so, problems and errors can be expected once the system goes live. During the start you may well notice some minor errors or spots that haven't been translated into English. We ask for your patience here — these will be corrected over time.

    User names in the forum:
We're also aware that many of you will want to continue using your old forum names. During the registration process you'll have a one-time, temporary chance to set your user name. Otherwise the user name on the game account (login name) will automatically be used. Please note that you only have this one chance to make the change. No other changes to user names will be allowed down the road.

The switch-over to the new forum is planned for probably Nov 12. After that point the old forum will be switched to 'read-only' and you can register and post in the new forum.

Thank you for your patience and understanding and we're excited to welcome you to the new forum. Together we can make it a lively and worthy successor to the old one.

    Your partners in gaming,

    The Bigpoint Community Team
