    EzVid, CamStudio, MSI Afterburner, and OBS are some other popular options that are advertised as free, and they all work pretty well.

    A paid option that is very good is FRAPS. Beware it makes AVI files, so for your longer videos you'll need to convert to MP4 before uploading to YouTube.
