No one wants a pve nerf. We should be allowed to get as strong as we want. However, because pve and pvp are linked around our necks like chains, something other than the round of nerfs needs to be considered.

This is how we got so out of whack.

Prior to R155 the dmg range was 2500-3000 (10K dps) and for the most part obtainable for anyone willing to put in the time and effort. Sets like the Witchhunter, Darkness, and even Warlord could be gotten by the weak, average and strong alike. Everyone agrees that there was far more balance in the game at this point.

Then the multi-level tiers were introduced. While it was called painful, excruciating, fatal it basically meant weak, average, and strong/OP. It was at this point where the dmg output jumped up to 6500-7000 (30k dps) and things began to get really out of whack. The gap between the weak/average and the strong/OP widened really fast.

On top of this, crafting 2.0 was introduced and further separated the gap simply because the strong/OP get far more resources per run than the average/weak.

Next was the removal of speed gems and the introduction of clovers into the daily challenge.

The strong/OP are once again given the advantage.

As if things weren’t bad enough, an extra wrench was thrown into the mix with cores and a higher level with super sets. Only the strong/OP benefitted from this idea. As a result, dmg jumped to 20K (no idea what max dps is).

With this massive jump in dmg 3000 to 20,000 the standard “please nerf” talk became a daily topic on the forum and facebook. The gap between the weak/average and the strong/OP cannot be made up at this point in time. That particular ship has sailed.

PVP became a one hit wonder and the cries for balance ring throughout the towns. Of course what players mean is “nerf” any class other than their own.

It has been suggested time and time again that pvp gets separated from pve, and the official claim made by DSO is that it isn’t possible.

With each expansion, the monsters in pve get boosted and the sets/cores/etc get boosted along with it. Another major jump in dmg output is just a matter of time.

    Some possible solutions:

Of course the obvious is separate pve from pvp. If that truly is not an option, there are two options that I can come up with.

Put some form of a cap on the dmg/dps pvp. Essence, hp and other pots were taken away. We are already limited to 80% armor/resist/block,etc. so something that makes it possible for the weak/average to compete with the strong/OP.

Another option (and I like this better) is to implement some way of boosting the weak/average in pve so that in a reasonable amount of time they can catch up with the strong/OP. Providing top items along with cores to only the strong/OP furthers the gap and is counter intuitive to balance.

If everyone is stronger, balance is automatic. Getting back to the idea that every player had a real chance of getting equal items was what kept the game in check. There wasn’t a 500 percent difference between the average and OP until the game went off the rails with R155 and subsequent releases.

If the goal is truly balance there needs to be a cap on dmg output as a whole and a concentrated effort put in to bringing up the weak/average player.

Now I’m sure that there are some players who feel that they deserve to be 500% stronger than most and love the one hit kill in pvp, but at the end of the day the game is suffering and players are quitting in frustration. It totally defeats the purpose.

We should all be focusing on how to boost the weak/average instead of spending all of our time trying to get the strong/OP nerfed.

If you have a possible solution on how to balance without nerfing what players already have, please let your voice be heard. Maybe, just maybe, we can finally get the dev's to retire the nerf stick.
