Am supposed to board the Rosa Maria for the quest.

I attacked it and then got close to board. The board target lights up. I click on it. Nothing happens. Don't know why I cant board.

Boardable NPC's will have a Boarding Symbol to the left of their name. This symbol is used to indicate if a NPC is below the Boarding Threshold or above it.

If the NPC is Boardable, it will have the Boarding Symbol next to its name. If it's Hitpoints are higher than your Boarding Threshold these symbol will be in dark colours as shown:

When the NPC is below the required Hitpoints for the Boarding Threshold, then this symbol shall light up and be shown in lighter colours:

If the NPC type is Boardable but you do not see any Boarding Symbol, then this could be because of a few reasons:

    • The NPC has been previously Boarded.
    • You do not have a Boarding Officer.
    • You do not have Pirates Equipped.
    • You have Boarded a different ship prior to this and you will need to wait for the Boarding Cooldown to expire.

    Boarding Threshold:

Boarding Threshold is the percentage of Hitpoints your target needs to have lower than to be able to attempt to board them.

There is only one way you can gain Boarding Threshold, that is having a Boarding Officer equipped:
Commander Level 1 provides 25% Boarding Threshold
Commander Level 2 provides 50% Boarding Threshold.
You can see your Boarding Threshold value by going to the Crew menu (crossed swords at the top of the screen), then looking at the Boarding threshold value under the "Values" section, as shown below.

In rare cases when you are trying to Board a target who's Hitpoints is above the Boarding Threshold, you may be shown the following error message:

    Has this helped?

I increased my equipment and pirates etc.
    I had 25 boarding threshold
My values looked similar to the example u posted except I had a 25 threshold
    26 pirates equipped
    3 sails
    cannons
    1 boarding officer
boarding target lit up I tried to board many times. somewhere in like a log it said I boarded but I cant remember where. But the rosa maria took my pirates etc. I didn't even get part of the quest completed. Was supposed to board on 2 ships.
I don't get what is wrong

In the picture in Tes's post above you can see where he put a red box around the threshold? Notice there is another tab there, go to that tab and it will show you the last few boardings you made with what your value was and what the other ships value was. If your value is lower than its value then the boarding fails. You increase your value by increasing the number and/or type of pirates you have and by adding equipment to them. 26 pirates is not very many and if they have no equipment then your boarding value won't be very high.

Boarding Value is used to determine if you will win a boarding.
Boarding threshold is how much damage do you need to do to the ship before you are allowed to attempt to board.

    Does that make it clearer?

    Hey @Ship ,

boarding value of Rosa Maria equals 1 000. In order to board it you need to have atleast 1 001 Boarding bonus.
I logged one of my small boats to do a test and I did find out that in order to acomplish this task you will need to have :

    - 30 Regular Pirate's ( * )
    - 30 Dagger's ( ** )
    - 30 Brigandine's ( ** )
    - 30 Matchlock's ( ** )

    on board ( equiped ).

( * ) - You can buy them at Tawern -> Pirates - for a price of 200 gold each.
( ** ) - You can buy this equipement at Trader -> Equipement

    @Edit
Do not forget to put your pirates aswell as their equipment on board.
