This item sounds like a Homing Mine is being used as your fellow pirate says. Its starting damage is 350,000 and that value is divided by how many NPCs are in its area of effect, so if there was 2 it would be 175,000 Damage, 3 would be 166,666 Damage.

**come to think of it; in relation to the amount of HP from event ships... that is fairly little damage for such a rare item(!)

 

a bit late, but as a correction: (imo)
Tier 1: 0 coins, 1 reputation, x skull ammo (sometimes)
Tier 2: 2-3 coins, 3 reputation, x skull ammo (sometimes)
Tier 3: 3-4 coins, 5 reputation, 1800-2200 skull ammo (sometimes)

protip:
if you decide to shoot the other team (other event ship -side) for some of the other coins; you will get jack all (nothing) except less reputation - so any admiral you're hoping to get pearls from will be a waste of ammo :/
eg. ~20k p.ammo = v and thats it!!

yup.. you cant simply hit another team just because you want some pearls .

Everything is possible to achieve on this awsome event , even the smallest one can get some pearls with may be exchanged for some skills / castles or saved up for upcoming halloween event

Dont waste your ammo m8 , always shout me out on global before you try to spend anything.

finally this dumb event ended in my opinion.

 

on my small ship i stay'd basicly +5 -5 reputation , so when any addy popped, i just sink 1 or 2 of said teams npc on way to addy, so i collected pearls from all addys 8)

 

The event was great and I only played 2 days of it.

friend of mine with dmg 170 k ( skull ammo ) had some profit while doing npcs with me
Shipwrecks were always the option. You have to look on the bright side m8

smaller boats really did make profit,i made like 2 mill pearls trough this event(played 2/4hours a day),won 1 skin and like 4k coins so it was full profit for small players
